Emerson specialists visited SUSU

The representatives of Emerson company, who arrived in Chelyabinks on a working visit to Industrial Group “Metran”, visited National Research South Ural State University, met with SUSU Rector Alexander L. Shestakov, and got acquainted with academic research laboratory PlantWeb.

Together with the American partners, among whom there were Rosemount President Tom Moser, Final Control group President Terry Barsby, and Vice-President of Asset Optimization Department of Emerson Process Management Stuart Harris, the laboratory was visited by Metran specialists led by General Director Alexey Glazyrin.

The guests talked with the specialists of Information Instrumentation Department of Computer Technologies, Control and Radio Electronics Faculty – Andrey Lapin, Associate Professor, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, and Mikhail Bizyaev, Head of Academic Research Laboratory, Candidate of Engineering Sciences and Associate Professor. Specially for the foreign partners a small excursion into the laboratory was organized and they were shown how the equipment worked.

PlantWeb peculiarity is a look-ahead control. It allows predicting what will happen in the nearest 15-20 minutes and correcting the work of the system, in particular, avoiding alert conditions and emergency break-downs. PlantWeb laboratory has been existing in SUSU for 7 years already. Emerson company was involved in its launching together with the University. Today the laboratory is an academic facility for SUSU students who study various methods of information processing, modern methods of business assets control and optimization.
