In order to become a participant of outdoor seminar “TOP-100” the students had to pass the first level of “School of Young Leader”. In 2012 the number of listeners reached 1000 people and only the most active of them were admitted for participation in that event.
The special group of lecturers and professors was selected to train such number of listeners. The lecturers were the undergraduates and students-activists of South Ural State University. It is a unique chance for the lecturer of “School of Young Leader” to work as a teacher, instructor and to show the world of intensive public university activity.
The schedule for each day of outdoor event was very tight. Everyday the students had to do some types of the exercises to strengthen their leadership skills, team building, formation of positive behavior, etc. It should be noted that every year the listeners of “School of Young Leader” are provided with very comfortable conditions so the domestic problems do not disturb their explosion into the training process.
Downhill skiing and snowboarding at the ski resort “Solnechnaya Dolina” were also offered to the students to combine the useful with the pleasant. The students treated that opportunity with an unusual enthusiasm as many of them went to a ski slope for the first time in their life.
On December 8 Andrey Shmidt, Deputy of Chelyabinsk City Duma, Chairman of Trade Union Committee, Head of SUSU Economics and Service Management Department, held the meeting with the participants of “TOP 100” seminar. During amiable dialogue with the students Mr. Shmidt pointed out the guiding purposes of the young generation. In addition, he clearly explained where and how the experience of organizing activity can be used, and also he told that public activity would help to obtain this experience.
At the end of the seminar top ten participants, those who showed their outstanding leadership skills were selected. The organizers are sure that this event will become a successful pledge for many students’ initiatives and future successfully realized projects at SUSU and other universities.
