According to the statistical data of State Traffic Safety Inspectorate in Chelyabinsk within 8 months of 2012 there had been 138 road accidents with the involvement of children: 145 of them were injured and 1 child died.
At the initiative of Mikhail Nikolaevich Shchapov, Chairman of Regional Charity Fund "Tyoply Dom", and with the support of Konstantin Vladimirovich Ostrovsky, Chief of State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of Chelyabinsk Regional Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and police lieutenant colonel, the project of promotion of the road crossing rules observation by school children has been realized.
These projects are successfully applied in the world practice on prevention of the road accidents with the involvement of school children.
During one month the students of ATE Faculty after their classes were on duty near the city schools: they helped pupils of elementary grades to cross the road, and watched the senior school children not to violate the road crossing rules.
During their duty the students managed to prevent several critical situations which from time to time took place on the road. Also they explained to younger generation why it is necessary to observe the Road Traffic Regulations for life and health preservation.
For the duty period Regional Charity Fund "Tyoply Dom" provided all volunteer-students with sandwiches and hot tea.Following the results of the event Ostrovsky K.V., Chief of State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of Chelyabinsk Regional Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, and Shchapov M.N., Chairman of Regional Charity Fund "Tyoply Dom", submitted the letters of gratitude to Aleksandr Leonidovich Shestakov, Rector of SUSU, and other participants of the project.
