Education which Determines the Future: Strategy Session is Held at SUSU

 

On September 5-7, a project-and-analytical session “Development of the university’s growth (transformation) orientations”, in which take part the university’s staff and partners, is held at South Ural State University.

On September 5 was the first, analytical, day of the strategy session. A line of actions was prescribed by the Rector of SUSU Alexander Shestakov and by the president of the Business Council of the Eurasian Economic Union Viktor Khristenko.

Programs for Additional Training at the Institute of Linguistics and International Communication

 

The Institute of Linguistics and International Communication invites you to take training under the programs of additional education: “Theory and Practice of Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language” with awarding of a Diploma on Professional Retraining, and “Methods of Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language” with awarding of a Certificate on Advanced Training.

Meeting Between First-year Students and the Rector

 

A meeting will be held between South Ural State University rector Aleksandr Shestakov and first-year students with high exam scores or who have won scientific olympiads.

Institute and school directors, representatives of offices of international and research activities, and representatives of the Center of Elite Education are also invited to the meeting to show the first-year students the full spectrum of possibilities at SUSU.

Development Perspectives of the SUSU School of Medical Biology Discussed in London

 

On Friday, September 1, a business meeting of the Rector of SUSU Alexander Shestakov and Sir Malcolm Grantwas held in London. Mr. Grant is the Chairman of the National Health Service of England, Chancellor of the University of York, and a member of the Council for enhancing competitiveness of the leading Russian universities in the frameworks of Project 5-100.

In 2017, a series of scientific conferences devoted to different aspects of century-old revolutionary events take place in Russia and abroad. Historians, political scientists, culture experts and sociologists have been searching new models that would explain the reasons for massive protest behavior, interest in revolutionary ideology, forming of alternative models of state building and upbringing of a new person.

A SUSU-Designed “Smart” Thermobox for Accumulators Allows to Start Your Car at 35 С° Below Zero

 

A postgraduate student from “Automobile Transport” Department of the SUSU Polytechnic Institute, Anton Andreev has developed a “smart” thermobox for accumulators. The topic of his research work is “Development of the System of Maintaining of Optimum Operation Conditions for Energy Accumulators Working in Severe Climates”.

SUSU Starts New Academic Year with Opening Events

 

At the university there are new elevators put into operation, Olympia's gym for group programs renewed, and two new laboratories opened.

A series of new openings started with putting into operation an elevator for people with limited mobility at the production and laboratory building of SUSU. Rector of the university Alexander Shestakov was the first one to check its operation.

What Does SUSU’s New Brand Inspire among Staff and Students?

 

Last week, SUSU Rector Alexander Shestakov officially presented the University’s new brand platform to teachers and staff. The centerpiece of this presentation was a fantastic laser show, which did not leave a single person in the conference hall unimpressed. The new SUSU logo as a symbol of the university uniting Europe and Asia, was accepted by the students and staff with emotion and positivity, and some of them were brought to tears from admiration and pride for their alma mater.

SUSU Invites First-year Students to “Dedication to Students 2017”

 

On August 31st, South Ural State University invites fist-year students to Dedication to Students 2017. This year, the theme of the event is tied to a new concept – SMART University, Uniting Europe and Asia.

The event is traditionally opened by the rector, Aleksandr Shestakov, with a welcome speech. Famous SUSU artistic collectives participate in the holiday, including the dance theater Deep-Vision, the choir Primavera, and many others. In addition, the first year students will receive their student cards and say the traditional oath.

SUSU Opens the World of Arts to the Freshman Students

 

 

The Creativity Center at the SUSU Extracurricular Activity Department was established in order to look for and support talented students. In the course of the previous academic year the employees and creative groups organized, held and took part in more than 270 events at the University, in our city and our region, as well as in other Russian cities.

Students of the Institute of Architecture and Construction Passed “Ropes Course”

 

On August 27 августа, in the city park named after Yuriy Gagarin, a ropes course was held for freshman students of the South Ural State University’s Institute of Architecture and Construction.

SUSU Accepting International Students

 

Each year at South Ural State University, more than 2000 international students from Iraq, Iran, China, Sri Lanka, Yemen, and Venezuela….

This year, more than 700 applications were sent in for all levels of education: bachelor’s, master’s, postgraduate, specialist, and the preparatory faculty; many students are coming to us through international exchange programs.

South Ural State University and “Intersvyaz” company invite first-grade pupils to take part in the “First-graders parade” holiday.  This year it will take place on the 9th of September in the Central park of culture and recreation named after Y.A. Gagarin. The beginning is at 13:00.

“Being a Mentor is Prestigious!”: the SUSU School of Mentors Meets its New Recruits

 

The System of Student Mentors accepts tens of new members each year, ready to help first-year students over their first year of education.

The opening of the School of Curators was held on August 24th at 10:00 in the SUSU Conference Hall. Among the candidates were students of the second and senior years of various specialties.

Results of the Admissions Campaign: Applicants Chose Philology, Journalism, and Linguistics

 

The 2017 admissions campaign was wrapped up at South Ural State University; applicants showed big interest in the humanitarian specialties, the academic level of new students grew, and the average EGE score was around 90.

The competitive admissions process at South Ural State University completed at the highest level. According to results of admissions for state-funded education, the average EGE score significantly increased compared to last year.

South Ural Scientists are Perfecting the Process of Obtaining Popular Photocatalyst

 

Environmental problems today are as relevant as ever. Scientists are searching for ways to diminish harmful industrial influence on nature. One of the ways to protect the environment, without a doubt, is the use of filters for water and air clarification of harmful substances. A comparatively common way for decaying filtered harmful chemicals is photocatalysis. One of the most frequently researched photocatalysts is titanium dioxide. Besides, titanium oxide is widely used as acid catalyst, material for membranes and for sorbents.

Selections for the School of Student Mentors Begin at SUSU

 

Each year on the last week of August, training is held for students for the title of student mentor. These are students who know the structure of the university very well and are ready to help first-year students adapt to student life.

On August 24th, candidates for mentors will begin training in all of the layers of university life: the academic process, extracurricular activities, and knowledge of the university structure.

SUSU Participates in New Project Erasmus+

 

The European Commission supported the realization of the SUSU project on Enhancing University Teaching in Thermal Power Systems for Cleaner Environment with Parallel Improvements in PhD Skills Development. The participants of this project include the SUSU Department of Combustion Engines and Automotive Electronic Systems under the guidance of the Head of the Department, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Vladislav Lazarev.
