SUSU Takes Part in the 2nd European Education Week

October 30th through November 3rd the Youth Forum on Internationalization of Education – Best Practices of International Academic Mobility (supported by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs grant) and the Programme of Advanced Training on Internationalization of Education – Organisation of Academic Mobility and Export of Educational Services were held at North-Caucasus Federal University (Stavropol) as part of the 2nd European Education Week.

SUSU Representative Attends Two International Forums in China

The 11th International Conference of Eurasian Transport Universities and the 2nd China-Russia Forum of the Future Technological Innovations and Enterprises were held in Zhengzhou (China) on October 26th-28th.

Aleksandr Rulevskiy, Head of the Department of Automobiles and Automotive Servicing, took part in these conferences in China as a representative of South Ural State University.

SUSU Took Part in the Times Higher Education Summit 2018

On 7-10 November, NUST MISIS (Moscow) held the summit of the Times Higher Education ranking agency “Transformation towards world-class research in the natural sciences-2018”. The SUSU team was represented by the Vice-Rector for International Relations Olga Yaroshenko, head of the Academic Rankings Promotion Department Andrey Kocherov, and the analyst of the Academic Rankings Promotion Department Ksenia Danilova.

November 5th through 11th South Ural State University became a venue for a big-scale dance project — contemporary choreography Meteorite Dance Festival.

Badminton Tournament Took Place at SUSU

On November 5, a badminton tournament among female international students of South Ural State University took place.

Participants of the badminton tournament were about 40 female students from China, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and other countries.

President of the SUSU Association of International Students, Uvindu Wijeweera, told us about why it was decided to hold this tournament.

Indian Diwali Holiday Celebrated at SUSU

On November 7, South Ural State University’s students from Asian countries celebrated India’s holiday called Diwali.

Diwali is the main India’s and Hindu holiday. Diwali Festival is the most significant holiday in Hinduism, as well as in Sikhism and Jainism, close to it by their spiritual content. Diwali is celebrated as a Festival of Lights and symbolises victory of the good over the evil. As a mark of this victory, candles and lanterns get light up everywhere.

SUSU Graduate Alexey Zakharov: Follow Your Passions

Alexey Zakharov graduated from the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Computer Science in 2009. In 2012, Alexey joined Lyft to build their first Android app and led the entire Android engineering team until his departure in 2018. Lyft is a transportation network company headquartered in San Francisco and is valued at $15.1 billion USD (June 2018). Alexey currently works at Instagram.

Photography Exhibition in Honor of Heroes of Russia Opened at SUSU

Photography exhibition entitled “Heroes of the Russian Federation. Chelyabinsk region” opened at the Faculty of Military Education of South Ural State University.

Opening of the exhibition featured students and teaching staff of the Faculty of Military Education, and mothers and widows of deceased Heroes of Russia.

SUSU Held the Matriculation Ceremony for the Students of Faculty of History

Annually in October, in accordance with the tradition, South Ural State University holds the Matriculation Ceremony for the first-year students of the Faculty of History. This year the event took place on October 24.

Delegation from Huanghe Institute from China Visited SUSU

South Ural State University was visited by representatives of the Yellow River Conservancy Technical Institute.

The purpose of the meeting featuring representatives of South Ural State University and the Yellow River Conservancy Technical Institute was to discuss prospects of cooperation, namely the further development of joint double degree programmes and inclusive education.

The First Round of Young Leader School Came to an End

On October 1- November 9, 2018, SUSU held the basic level of Young Leader School. The participants of the project master super-professional skills and discover new opportunities for their development.

Young Leader School (YLS) is one of the large-scale projects of South Ural State University. This year it is being implemented within the frames of the grant support of All-Russian Contest of the Youth’s projects.

The delegation of South Ural State University headed by its Rector Aleksandr Shestakov paid a visit to Zhejiang Ocean University. As part of their visit the SUSU representatives took part in the International Forum of Rectors, as well as congratulated the partnering university on its 60th anniversary.

The Department of Russian and International History Invites to a Meeting with a Researcher from Germany

A methodology master class by the Department of Russian and International History will be held at 16:00 on November 8th, 2018. Acelya Bakir, postgraduate student from the University of Düsseldorf (Germany) who is currently completing her internship at SUSU, will give a presentation.
