“Keep Alert”: Lecture on Cyber Security Held at SUSU

Representatives of law-enforcement authorities have once again held a lecture on cyber security for students of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science of South Ural State University.

As new fraudulent schemes emerge, employees of our city’s Directorate of Internal Affairs regularly hold preventive lectures at our university. Criminal investigator of the Operations-and-Crime-Detection Division of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia shared with the students on the most popular fraudulent schemes, which students massively fall victims to today. For example: calls from alleged law-enforcement authorities, fake delivery services, messages about “hacking” your personal account on Gosuslugi portal, or offers of easy money through Interment investments.

In addition, the officer drew attention to real examples when students were affected by the actions of fraudsters.

“Today fraudsters are quite active in their attempts to scam students, and in particular those under age. That is exactly why we regularly hold such lectures in order to inform the assailable groups of population and ensure their safety. But in addition to our efforts, people themselves must verify the information they receive as well, and keep alert to stay safe,” explained the officer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

It was a helpful and informative lecture, and besides the information on how to protect themselves against fraudsters, the students learned what organizations to contact in case they face suspicions actions.
