A report on the implementation of the SUSU development program for 2025 as part of the Priority 2030 strategic academic leadership program was defended at the Moscow Aviation Institute in Moscow on November 19th.
During day two of the defences, 30 universities of the Priority 2030 main track presented their reports to the Council. Our country’s strongest teams, leaders in engineering, materials science, digital technology, nuclear research, medicine, and space engineering, presented their reports on their development under the Priority program.
The day two participants included Bauman Moscow State Technical University, HSE University, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, MISIS, and SUSU, as well as leading medical universities and other major federal universities. SUSU presented its development results over 2025 alongside our country’s best universities. Our university is among those currently shaping the scientific and technological agenda and determining what industries will look like in 5-10 years.
“The goal of the Priority program is to create a broad group of universities that will become leaders in the creation of new scientific knowledge and advanced technologies, and will have a significant impact on the socioeconomic development of the regions of our country. Therefore, it is crucial that the program is open to universities of any departmental affiliation,” emphasized Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov, speaking on the selection of universities during the day two.
The SUSU team presented key results of our university’s development as part of the Priority 2030 strategic academic leadership program.
Namely within the framework of the Priority program, SUSU had launched an internal transformation to strengthen its contribution to our country’s technological leadership and the development of engineering education in Russia. In particular, an emphasis was put on the development of the Industrial Robotics program within the frameworks of the "Intelligent Manufacturing" Strategic Technology Project.
Winning the contest on opening the Robotics Development Centre was for a reason. SUSU has been investing in this program since 2022. Jointly with the Chelyabinsk Forge and Press Plant, over half a billion roubles had been invested in the creation of the industrial Faculty of Mechatronics and Robotics. Leading engineers and specialists in this field had been attracted to our university for collaboration. All this had made it possible to open the Industrial Robotics Development Centre, the funding for which will be used to purchase equipment and components, develop human resources, and develop new technological solutions.

"Based on the priorities of the scientific and technological policy and the needs of regional industry, our report focused on the Intelligent Manufacturing strategic technology project,” noted SUSU Rector Alexander Wagner. “The project’s goal is the deep automation and robotization of production processes, characteristic of the South Ural region.
Our aspiration is national leadership in industrial robotics, particularly in the integration of domestic robotic systems. This ambition is fully shared and supported by our region. The Chelyabinsk Region Governor Alexey Texler provides comprehensive support, creating tools for the development of industrial robotics and the integration of robotic systems into production.
We aim to create software and hardware systems, predictive analytics systems, and the development of new types of grippers and sensor equipment: everything required to integrate robots into production. This includes training students and employees of regional enterprises in the design and maintenance of robotic systems. We accomplish all these tasks with the support from our industrial partners. The Chelyabinsk Forge and Press Plant, a group of industrial companies that includes Russia's first Robot Plant, is the leading player in industrial robotics in our region and throughout our country. Together, we contribute to achieving the national strategic goals of our state."
Ahead are two days of presentation defences for 58 universities participating in the program. Later, after the defences complete, the recipients of the 2026 grant will be selected following a meeting of the Council for Support of University Development Programs.

The Priority program was launched in 2021. Currently, 141 universities and 15 federal ministries and agencies are participating in the program.
Since 2025, the program has been implemented as part of the “Youth and Children” national project.
