Director of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Alena Zamyshlyaeva Named Dean of the Year 2025

Alena Zamyshlyaeva, Director of the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Head of the “VirtUM” Centre for Top-level Academic Programmes in the Field of Artificial Intelligence, Doctor of Sciences (Physics and Mathematics), has been named a laureate of the Russian Professorial Assembly's national award, "Dean of the Year 2025", in the Physics and Mathematics category. The Russian Professorial Assembly award recognizes outstanding scientific achievements in education and science.

The Dean of the Year Award was established by the Russian Professorial Assembly to preserve and further develop the scientific and educational potential of Russian universities, stimulate scientific and technological development, and reward department heads working in scientific or educational organizations. It is awarded to scholars who demonstrate outstanding achievements in the management of a faculty or institute within an educational institution.

"My sincere congratulations on this well-deserved award," said Rector Alexander Wagner. "Alena Zamyshlyaeva heads one of our university's most serious and academically advanced schools. She actively participates in the work and manages a new educational project in artificial intelligence. I wish you continued success and achievements for the benefit of South Ural State University, Russian science, and education!"

The selection process takes into account specific criteria: the volume of additional educational services provided by faculty members; the proportion of graduates employed during the calendar year following their graduation, relative to the total number of faculty graduates; the number of textbooks or teaching aids published by the faculty; and other criteria. Award recipients receive a diploma and a badge in the style established by the Presidium of the Russian Professorial Assembly.

Alena Zamyshlyaeva holds the titles of Merited Worker of Education of the Russian Federation and Honoured Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation. She is actively involved in the university life: she is a member of two dissertation councils, an expert for the Russian Science Foundation on regional competitions representing the Chelyabinsk Region, and a member of the editorial board of the SUSU Bulletin Scientific Journal. She has published over 150 scientific and methodological papers, a monograph called "High-Order Sobolev-Type Equations", and received 14 program registration certificates. Currently, Alena Zamyshlyaeva supervises the research work of undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students at the SUSU Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

She is proud of the creation of the scientific field "High-Order Sobolev-Type Equations", which allows for the analytical and numerical study of both existing problems and new ones within the framework of established areas of mathematical modelling; for example, in the theory of sound and molecular waves, hydrodynamics, elasticity theory, etc., described by high-order differential equations.

The Russian Professorial Assembly is an all-Russian public organization. Founded in 2016, it comprises over 6000 professors from 185 Russian universities. The Chelyabinsk regional branch of the Russian Professorial Assembly currently brings together faculty from eight leading universities in our region: SUSU, Chelyabinsk State University, South Ural State Humanitarian and Pedagogical University, South Ural State Medical University, Ural State University of Physical Culture, Chelyabinsk State Academy of Culture and Arts, South Ural State Agrarian University, and Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University.
