Governor Alexey Texler has examined the progress of the construction of the world-class Inter-university Campus in Chelyabinsk and has called it one of the most major-scale projects in our region.
“Currently, we have focused our efforts on the second stage, the construction of six hotel buildings. The work is in full swing: hundreds of specialists work hard on site, and the facilities are more than 65% ready,” said the head of our region.
At present, the third and key stage has started: the construction of the Research and Education Complex and the Multifunctional Conference Centre. Our region’s leaders jointly with the universities and industrial partners are discussing the fitting of more than 40 modern laboratories with equipment.
The Campus project implies the creation of a modern educational infrastructure with the total area of 121.8 thous. square metres. The participants include seven universities, and SUSU is one of them. The Campus will offer laboratories, dormitories, coworking spaces, sports facilities and public spaces for the residents of Chelyabinsk.
Frames of two seven-storey and four sixteen-storey buildings are completely ready; finishing, façade and electrical works are in progress, and elevators and windows are being installed. In September of 2026, more than 3000 people will be able to check in at the new hotels. Also, a sports and recreation complex with a swimming pool will be built on the territory of the Campus.
The Inter-university Campus is being constructed in Chelyabinsk following the instructions by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin as part of the federal project on creation of a network of modern campuses, which is being implemented thanks to the Youth and Children national project and is personally controlled by the Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Alexey Texler.
