For more than 10 years now South Ural State University is among the leading research and educational centres in the field of training specialists in Additive Technologies (15.04.01 Mechanical Engineering: Additive Technologies programme).
What are additive technologies? These are innovative methods of manufacturing goods by applying a material layer by layer (3D printing, creation of multi-functional coatings, etc.). This is the future of industry!
We are training specialists capable of developing unique solutions and implementing advanced manufacturing processes.
Graduates of this programme are trained for design-and-engineering, manufacturing-and-technological, organizational-and-managerial, and research-and-development activities both in design-and-engineering organizations and at industrial enterprises of the Ural region and across Russia, which are implementing additive technologies.
Why choose our programme?
— Practice-oriented training: you will be working on projects together with the leading enterprises of mechanical engineering, instrumentation engineering, aerospace engineering, oil and gas refining, medical equipment, and other sectors of industry.
— Modern facilities and equipment: modern laboratories and equipment allow to immediately apply your knowledge on practice.
A Laboratory for Mechanics, Laser Processes and Digital Production Technologies is functioning at the university, offering the whole range of the main world-class manufacturing and research equipment for mastering of the disciplines being taught.
During training, students’ competences (as required by the Federal State Education Standards) are formed through using modern methods and tools of teaching. The department’s teaching staff are in command of modern tools for design, mathematical, physical and computer modelling; a big fleet of industrial and laboratory equipment, including 3D printers, scanners, as well as industrial computer-controlled and robotic units for implementation of additive technologies.
— Qualified teaching staff: experienced practicing specialists and renowned scientists of world wide repute in this field, who took training and internships at the leading enterprises and scientific schools in Europe, Asia and Russia. They participate in the implementation of big Russian and international scientific projects and have vast experience in commercialization of scientific developments in additive production at industrial enterprises.
— Career opportunities: our graduates are in demand in the labour market, work in big companies, and launch their own startups.
While taking training in Master’s degree programmes, our students can successfully combine working at an enterprise and studies at the university. Classes are held in the evening time, and individual approach is also available in the format of “blended learning”, which combines the elements of distance and full-time learning. Such method allows to unite the advantages of both approaches and ensures the flexibility of the educational process.
