SUSU Improves its Standing in the TOP 50 Best Russian Universities

RAEX Ranking Agency has published the fourteenth annual ranking of the best Russian universities, RAEX-100, which is part of the Three University Missions family. In 2025, universities from 30 Russian regions have made it to this list of the best ones.

South Ural State University now holds the 43rd place, having improved last year’s result by 6 positions and being the only representative of the Chelyabinsk Region in this ranking.

“Consistent rising in a prestigious Russian ranking is a proof that we have chosen a correct strategy of the university’s development, which yields tangible results recognized by the expert community,” noted Rector Alexander Wagner.

The Top 100 has included 37 engineering-and-technical universities, what is by 2 institutions more than last year. 54% of those have improved their standing and 19% moved down in the ranking list. They are followed by 27 classical universities (as per their degree of representativity) and 17 medical universities.

There are only nine participants from the social sciences and humanities fields, with the majority of those located in Moscow. Six universities from this ranking specialize in pedagogy, three pertain to the agricultural sector, and just one university represents architecture and construction.

For this research study, statistical indicators were used, as well as the results of survey among 150000 respondents: students, graduates, representatives of the academic and scientific communities, and employers.
