Students of the SUSU Presidential Programme are implementing a social project for young patients and their parents at the City Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Chelyabinsk.
The MBA Centre and Business School of the SUSU School of Economics and Management have a number of supplementary education programmes. Of course, these are all different, but these are united by an important characteristic – all of these programmes are practice-oriented.
In particular, for many years now, a mandatory element of training in the Project Management at the Enterprise programme (within the framework of the Presidential Programme for Training Management Personnel) has been the implementation of a real project on a “from start to finish” principle.
During the training, after the introductory session and acquaintance, students independently agree on the topic and begin planning and implementing their project. Of course, this programme trains already working managers, but this does not always make the work on the project easier, since each participant initially has his own vision of the logic of the project deployment, his own experience, habits, and management style.
As part of mastering the programme of disciplines, participants immediately try everything in practice, holding meetings, meetings with stakeholders and other events, practicing all the knowledge they receive in the disciplines. Every month, the group holds a meeting with the programme curator to assess the progress of the project.
This year, students are implementing a social project to equip a recreation room for children in the City Clinical Hospital No. 1 of the city of Chelyabinsk (Gastroenterology Department of the children's building). Children's play areas are much more than beautiful furniture and toys. This is an opportunity to support patients and their parents. For children, play areas help reduce anxiety and stress from being in the hospital, and for doctors − additional motivation in their work.
For our students, this is not only an opportunity to apply the knowledge they have acquired in practice, but also to contribute to improving the quality of life of young patients and their families.
Finding the funding, developing a design project, cost estimates and other documents, managing changes, working with risks, purchasing furniture and equipment, finding contractors, and much more – all this is the educational life of our wonderful students. Part of the work has already been done, some is ahead. But we are sure that we certainly will succeed in it all, because we are all doing what we love!
The team of students and the MBA Centre thanks everyone who takes part in its implementation, and invites everyone who is ready to contribute to this good cause to cooperate.
Together we can make the world a better place!
