More than 1000 people, including students of the SUSU Military Training Centre, teaching staff and veterans, took part in a ceremonial formation on the square in front of the main university building of South Ural State University on the eve of the Victory Day on May 7th.
“The SUSU Military Training Centre starts training for the formation every year in March,” said Head of the Military Training Centre, Colonel Nikolai Karpov. “In addition to participating in the Victory Parade on the Revolution Square, we also prepare for the formation in front of the main university building of SUSU so that everyone can see the scale and beauty of the event, what the Military Training Centre does, who it educates, how many SUSU students are studying here. Today, more than 1000 students have been present on the square.”
The ceremonial formation on the square near SUSU has been held annually since 2005. Since 2015, the program has expanded: after the formation, university students traditionally perform a dance as part of the Victory Waltz event.
“Dear students and teachers of the SUSU Military Training Centre, I sincerely congratulate you on the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Today, our Military Training Centre at the university is one of the largest and best in our country. This is the foundation that was laid back in 1944 by first teachers-frontline soldiers - people who directly participated in the Great Patriotic War. So today, many of our teachers have combat experience, took part in military conflicts of our country, they continue to honour and observe the traditions that were laid in our centre. For example, last year a new fourth Department of Aerospace Forces was opened, and I am sure that the dynamic development of the centre will continue in the coming years,” congratulated SUSU Rector Alexander Wagner on the upcoming Victory Day. “Victory Day is a holiday of courage, bravery and honour. Our annual traditional formation in front of the main building is a tribute to our ancestors. Today we say thank you to them for the Victory. Dear friends, I wish you success, fruitful studies and new victories. Happy holiday, Happy Victory Day!”
“It has already become a good tradition to celebrate the Victory Day on the SUSU square, here we honour and glorify heroic deeds of our fathers. It is important for us to preserve in memory all the events of the Great Patriotic War and deeds of the heroic generation of victors. You are the present and future defenders of our Fatherland, we live in a Great country, so let us preserve the memory of our Great Victory!” said Galina Gavrilova, head of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation for the Chelyabinsk Region.
The participants of the ceremonial formation were congratulated by the First Deputy Chairman of the Chelyabinsk Regional Organization “Veterans of the Special Military Operation of the Chelyabinsk Region” Vladimir Zabegaev:
“On behalf of our organization, we congratulate you on this Great Day! Wear your uniform proudly, defend the interests of our country. I wish you a peaceful sky above your heads!”
Students of the Military Training Centre will also take part in the festive Victory Parade, which will be held on Revolution Square on May 9th. 160 students of the Military Training Centre will march in the festive formation. This is the largest number of participants from one organization declared to participate in the parade this year. In addition, other 80 people from among the university students will carry pennants with the symbols of the branches of the armed forces and significant historical dates. Thus, the total number of participants from the SUSU Military Training Centre will be 240 people, which has become an absolute record in the history of the university.
