SUSU Signed Memorandum with Leading University in Northeast China

SUSU Rector Alexander Wagner held a working meeting with Meng Shangjiu, Rector of Heilongjiang University of Science and Technology (Harbin, Heilongjiang Province). The event took place on the territory of the partner university as part of the business program of the Russia-China EXPO. The delegation from the Chelyabinsk Region works under the leadership of Governor Alexey Texler. At the meeting, the parties solemnly signed a memorandum of understanding, which will expand cooperation in the north-eastern part of China.

Chelyabinsk and Harbin will develop joint Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in engineering and technical fields, engage in scientific research and conduct academic exchanges of teachers and students.

Heilongjiang University of Science and Technology (HUST) was founded in 1947 and used to be a specialized school for mining technology. HUST is the only mining and technology university in Heilongjiang, Jilin and Inner Mongolia provinces, established by the national Ministry of Education, organized by the People's Government of Heilongjiang Province, built jointly with the Ministry of Emergency Situations. It is a multidisciplinary university with major areas such as engineering, management, social and natural sciences.

SUSU also establishes close contacts with the southern provinces of China. This spring, university representatives have visited a number of universities in Wuhan Province. Based on the results of the meetings and discussions held, proposals for cooperation between SUSU and Chinese universities were put forward. One of them is the opening of the faculty of pre-university education for students from Wuhan at the premises of South Ural State University.
