The anniversary week dedicated to the celebration of the 80th anniversary since its founding has wrapped up at South Ural State University. The program of ceremonial events turned out to be very rich and reflected the eventful history, cultural and sports traditions. While celebrating its anniversary for 5 days, our university spoke eloquently about the achievements of its schools and institutes, about science, innovations and multifaceted international activities, creativity and sports. "Dear friends, I congratulate you on the big landmark anniversary of our university. Over the course of 80 years, it has changed its name more than once, and this has always been associated with the next higher stage in its development. SUSU has rightfully earned its current start as a national research university, as well as the high positions that the university occupies in Russian and international rankings. Thank you, colleagues, for your conscientious work and significant contribution to the development of science and professional education in our region. Our fates are now inextricably linked with SUSU, and you and I will become the engine for the development of our entire region. An anniversary is just a great occasion to get a new impetus to move forward. Let's remain faithful to traditions, develop modern approaches in science and education, and strengthen our university's position in national and world rankings. I am confident that we will be able to cope with the task. Today a new 80-year milestone in the life of our university has been reached. We will continue to boldly take professional heights, respond to the challenges of the time, work for the future, and educate real scientists and leaders. And may future generations of graduates become worthy of our predecessors. Dear friends, happy holiday to you! Happy 80th anniversary since the founding of our home," Alexander Wagner congratulated the guests of the festive concert.

Metropolitan of Chelyabinsk and Miass Aleksiy addressed the university administration and guests of the festive concert with a congratulatory speech:

"Dear friends! With all my heart I congratulate you − all teachers, staff, students and graduates of SUSU − on the 80th anniversary of the university. The university always solves the most important problems for our country; its graduates are famous for the highest quality of training; advanced scientific technologies and developments are born here. I thank the university leadership for many years of cooperation with the Chelyabinsk Metropolitan See. We have many joint projects: with the support of the church, the university, the only one in the South Ural region, trains specialists in theology. Together we work to establish spiritual and moral values. I hope that cooperation with the church will continue to bear good fruit. I sincerely wish the university prosperity, and I wish all teachers and students health, wisdom, scientific and creative success."

This was followed by bright creative performances from SUSU students and creative groups, who performed dance and vocal routines. The famous Ural dance ensemble, recognized at the national and international levels, performed on the anniversary stage. Foreign students also prepared their gift for the university’s birthday − they performed a New Year’s medley of Russian songs, which were accompanied by cheerful dances by the Deep Vision contemporary dance group. A separate ballroom dance number was dedicated to German Vyatkin, who had headed the university for many years. There men's choir of Automobile and Tractor Engineering Faculty, a jazz orchestra led by Georgy Anokhin, the Folk-tone vocal ensemble, and the Ladies Band also performed on stage. The pixel show especially fascinated the audience.

The culmination of the evening was a large birthday cake − an exact copy of the main academic building of South Ural State University. The SUSU Rector cut the first piece of cake and treated everyone present.

SUSU continues to develop and train specialists in various fields of science, technology, economics and culture. In honour of its 80th anniversary, our university received many congratulations and words of thanks from its alumni, partners and colleagues from other educational institutions.
