Production Association Mayak Is Interested in Developments by SUSU Scientists

Within the framework of implementation of a scientific project, team of scientists from South Ural State University requested an expert assessment from specialists of Production Association Mayak. The main goal of the development is to create matrix materials designed to help with the safe disposal of radioactive waste using vitrification.

Production Association Mayak is one of the leading Russian centres for the processing of nuclear fuel from nuclear power plant reactors, and the Russian nuclear icebreaker and submarine fleet.

The Production Association Mayak delegation included Pavel Kozlov, Head of the Laboratory for Radioactive Waste Management and Conditioning; Evgeniy Polyakov, Head of the Vitrification Group; Mikhail Remizov, Lead Engineer of the Laboratory; and Sergey Shaidullin, Head of the Liquid Radioactive Waste Management Group.

At the meeting, SUSU was represented by Anton Korzhov, First Vice-Rector, Vice-Rector for Research; Leonid Shipulin, Head of the Research and Innovation Services; and project participants with their leader, Vyacheslav Eremyashev.

As a result of the meeting, representatives of Production Association Mayak gave a positive assessment and expressed their interest in continuing the research within the project with the adjustment of the tasks being solved to the current production problems of the enterprise.
