What opportunities for studying does Russia offer? One of those is studying at South Ural State University. So, no wonder that international students choose it to obtain their education there. A student from Cuba, Mailin Teresa Gonzalez Quintin, is among those who have chosen this university. She has shared her thoughts about it with Sputnik.
This university offers various programmes, such as International Relations, Philology, Linguistics, Economics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, and more. In addition, students can choose Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programmes that are taught in English.
The student from Cuba, for instance, enrolled in the Master’s degree programme in Strategic and Innovation Marketing at the Faculty of Economics and Management. In general, South Ural State University offers their applicants all levels of education and creates the most comfortable conditions for their successful studies.
Mailin Teresa Gonzalez Quintin specifically mentions that she admires Russia not only for the high level of education, but also for its cultural peculiarities.
“I participated in a joint Cuba-Russia project, that is why I went on a business trip to this country in 2017. Since that moment I’ve fallen in love with its culture, food and traditions. When I had to decide where to go study beyond Cuba, I chose Russia because I already knew this country and I had very pleasant memories about it,” Mailin Teresa Gonzalez Quintin explains her decision to study at South Ural State University in Chelyabinsk.
Over the recent years, the university has been moving towards a student-centred model of education. In essence, it means the possibility of building individual educational trajectories for each student.
“South Ural State University is something special, it has topped all my expectations. I like my programme and I really admire my professors. I must say that all the university staff members (academic, administrative staff, and student associations) are very sympathetic with us, international students, and are always ready to support us and help solve any problem,” notes Mailin Teresa Gonzalez Quintin.
The student adds that she would recommend all her fellow countrymen to enrol in the university.
Besides the educational standards, the student from Cuba is impressed with the celebration of the Victory Day in Russia.
“Every year the celebration of the Victory Day amazes me. I admire the way families pay homage to all those who fought in the Great Patriotic War. When I saw this for the first time, I was really impressed, and it made me love the Russian people even more,” tells the student.
