Our University Will Join Forces with the Signal Factory to Develop New Materials and Technologies

The main fields of cooperation between the two organisations will be research and education. AO Signal is a large chemical and mechanical engineering company. The business fulfils serial production of special products supplied by state defence order and civilian pyrotechnic products. The plant works in close cooperation with leading scientific institutes of the industry, thanks to which advanced developments are mastered and put into production.

"We have agreed to build a serious, multifaceted partnership with long-term prospects of cooperation. We will work together on creating new materials in the field of pyrotechnics and ammunition; we will raise the level of professional training of our students, who then go on to work at AO Signal," says SUSU Rector Aleksandr Shestakov.

Cooperation in the field of hi-tech development will help the plant reach a new production level and increase the skill level of their employees. Internships and practical training for university students at the industrial enterprise and advanced training of AO Signal employees at the university’s departments are another important component of the partnership.

"SUSU students are already coming to us for internships and jobs, but we would like to have more. We have a lot of opportunities for young specialists; the enterprise is actively developing, the graduates can implement knowledge they receive in the technological and design departments, work as production foremen and work in laboratories,” says Lev Uvarov, General Director of AO Signal. “We are also interested in improving the qualifications of our employees in the ammunition industry and the machining of parts.”

South Ural State University trains specialists in Ammunition and Explosives (Department of Aircraft Engines of the Institute of Engineering and Technology). The educational program is aimed at training highly qualified engineers for the armaments and military equipment industry. Students acquire knowledge in the design of high-precision munitions and small aircraft and the automated and robotic processes of their production, assembly, and operation. In addition, a great deal of attention is paid to economic planning of projects, scientific organization of work, and life safety.
