IMSSH Students Win the "Belye odezhdy" All-Russian Contest of Social Advertising

Students of the 1st and 2nd years of studies of the Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities took part in the "Belye odezhdy" ("White Robe") All-Russian Contest of Social Advertising in Ulyanovsk and won certificates in two nominations at once: "Remain Human!" and "Purpose in Life Is Health!".

The contest organizers – Ministry of Science and Education of the Russian Federation and Ulyanovsk Technical University – offered students to create topical products of social advertising. Such advertisements do not bring profit, and do not promote attractive goods or services, but they rather urge to positive action, join people to solve important problems, and demonstrate ways out of difficult situations.

And the students from the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities (IMSSH) of South Ural State University succeeded in meeting this contest's conditions. Certificate of the 2nd degree in the "Remain Human!" nomination was awarded to students of group СГ-208 Iuliia Minakova and Varvara Sinitskaia, who presented before the jury their poster "Never stop reading books. Don't let them turn into museum showpieces".

Certificate of the 1st degree in the "Purpose in Life Is Health!" nomination was awarded to a team of students of the 1st year of studies, including students of group СГ-104 Ramil Lukmanov, Maksim Konovalov and Alina Sagitova. With their video, the students managed to draw attention to the problem of fighting against drugs.

"We live in an information society, and someone must promote ideas that do not bring the here-and-now profit," noted Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations Irina Lychagina. "National idea, way of life, ecology, national traditions – these things are crucial for the development of society. For social advertising to be efficient, it is important to clearly see the "pain points" of the existing problem and to actively use them with the help of original creative approaches. As the contest shows, our students have succeeded in that."

Our congratulations to the winners on their well-deserved awards! We wish you new achievements!
