Selection Round of the Zvezda Multidisciplinary Engineering Olympiad Continues

More than 100000 participants from 70 regions of Russia have already taken part in the selection round of the Zvezda (Star) Multidisciplinary Engineering Olympiad for School Students, which began on October 26th.

The Olympiad is coordinated by the Russian Engineering Union and South Ural State University. The co-organizers of the event are 68 Russian universities, 12 cadet corps, as well as leading corporations of our country's defence industry.

The selection round of the Olympiad is held in two formats: in person and online on the official website of the Olympiad zv.susu.ru. Despite the complex epidemiological situation in our country, school students are taking actively participating in the Olympiad.

Until December 20, 2020, school students of the 6th to 11th form will be able to try themselves in one or several categories: Russian Language, Natural Sciences, Social Studies, or History.

School students of the 7th to 11th form complete competitive tasks within the framework of such specialized fields as Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Aviation and Rocket and Space Engineering, Electric Power Engineering, Shipbuilding and Water and Land Transport Engineering and Technology, Information Security, and Biotechnology.

Senior high school students have an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge in the field of Law, Economics, Psychology, International Relations, Translation, and Translation Studies.

“The Zvezda Multidisciplinary Engineering Olympiad is included in the List of the Russian Council for Olympiads for School Students, approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. If school graduates, who are winners or prize-winners of the Olympiad, score 75 points and more at specialization-related exams, they will have the opportunity to enrol at Russian universities without the need to pass the admissions examinations and without competition. Other school students will receive up to 10 extra points when their personal achievements will be taken into consideration by the admissions committees,” said Deputy Vice-Rector for the SUSU Academic Affairs, Coordinator of the Zvezda Multidisciplinary Engineering Olympiad Yulia Bolotina.

The Zvezda Olympiad has been organized since 2013. One of the main goals of the Olympiad is the creation of the necessary conditions for supporting creativity talents and interest in scientific activities among talented youth.
