SUSU Listed among World Best Universities According to Times Higher Education

South Ural State University has entered THE World University Rankings-2021 at the place of 1001+. A total of 1527 universities from 93 countries were considered in the ranking. The number of Russian universities represented in the ranking increased from 39 up to 48.

THE WUR is considered to be one of the most prestigious international rankings, along with the QS World University Rankings (compiled by the British consulting company QS Quacquarelli Symonds) and the Shanghai Ranking (Academic Ranking of World Universities - ARWU). The main purpose of compiling these ratings is to help applicants, students and scientists decide on the choice of a university for education, work on research projects or concluding promising academic agreements.

THE evaluates universities in all spheres of their activities: teaching (30%), research (30%), citations (30%), international cooperation (7.5%), and production income (2.5%). In the current edition of the ranking, THE experts analysed 13.6 million scientific publications and more than 86 million citations over a 5-year period based on Elsevier bibliometric data. Times Higher Education analysts highlighted SUSU's success in terms of “Production Income”, where the university was ranked the 640th in the world.

When compiling the rating, not only scientific, but also reputation indicators are taken into account. The academic and research reputation is revealed through an annual global survey of the representatives of the global academic community. The surveys cover tens of thousands of scientists and researchers from all over the world. At the same time, THE ranking agency independently forms a contact base for conducting reputation surveys.

The dynamic development of SUSU is the most important condition for its competitiveness. The university is trying to provide quality education, produce qualified and in-demand specialists and contribute to the life of our region and our country as a whole. The ratings reflect the successful activities of the university in the global scientific and educational space, which corresponds to the key task of the Project on enhancing the competitiveness of leading Russian universities among the world's research and education centres.
