Psychologists from SUSU Took Part in XVI European Congress of Psychology in Moscow

European Congress of Psychology took place in Moscow. For the first time in history, the Congress, which was the 16th, was held in our country. This massive and important for the world’s whole psychological community event was arranged by the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations and the Russian Psychological Society and held at Lomonosov Moscow State University.

Ceremonious opening of the Congress took place at the State Kremlin Palace. It was visited by more than 3 000 representatives of professional psychological associations from 38 European countries as well as from Asia, Latin America and Australia.

At the Congress, South Ural State University was represented by employees of the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities (Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Head of the Department of Developmental Psychology and Counselling, Elena Rylskaya; Associate Professors at the Department of Developmental Psychology and Counselling, Candidates of Sciences (Psychology), Irina Zavyalova and Alisa Maltseva) and the School of Medical Biology (Head of the Department of Clinical Psychology, Candidate of Sciences (Medicine), Mikhail Berebin; Head of the Laboratory of Psychology and Psychophisiology of Stress and Creativity, Doctor of Sciences (Psychology), Professor Vera Gryazeva-Dobshinskaya; research fellows of the Laboratory, Svetlana Korobova and Yulia Dmitrieva).

University representatives delivered oral and poster reports within symposiums and meetings of the Congress’ sessions. For example, Irina Zavyalova delivered an oral presentation entitled “The structure of personal maturity of elderly people”, having noted that in the course of an animated discussion she managed to get the opportunity to familiarize with the world’s leading tendencies in the sphere of Herontopsychology.

Creative communication with foreign colleagues allowed participants of the Congress to see prospects for further research as well as the ways and methods for establishment of international collaborations, provided the opportunities for a detailed discussion of specificity of research results presentation in Russia and abroad (particularly the aspects connected with publications in journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus databases). The European Congress of Psychology has become the venue which provided unique conditions for improvement of professional communication in English as in the language of communication of all representatives of the international community of psychologists.

Participation of SUSU psychologists at the 16th European Congress of Psychology will allow getting students majoring in psychology familiar with the latest tendencies in development of psychology during discussions held within lectures and workshop classes.
