Foreign Students of SUSU Took Part in the Contest of the New Year Performances

On December 26, a festive event for the foreign students, devoted to the 2019 New Year, took place in Sigma Educational Building of South Ural State University.

This academic year began creatively for the foreign students: they took part in the Matriculation Ceremony, then presented their talents at various events and at the end of the year, they participated in a contest of the New Year Performances.

Foreign students from different countries, including Egypt, Ivory Coast, Algeria, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Congo, China, Iraq, and many others attended the event.

Foreign students presented their vocal talents, they danced, recited poems, played musical instruments and presented their video presentations with the New Year's greetings.

The judges of the contest – teachers of the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications – received an assessment sheet, which recorded the results on several indicators at the rate of 10 points.

“The event took place in a warm atmosphere; the guys supported each other and enjoyed themselves heartily. It is nice that such talented and ambitious students came to us! We hope that this is not the last concert, in which foreign students take part,” said Yulia Sorokina, teacher of Russian as a Foreign Language Department at the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications.

All in all 12 groups participated in 12 nominations: “The Most Singing Group”, “The Most Dancing Group”, “The Most Stylish Group”, “The Most Friendly Group”, “The Most New Year Group”, “The Most Artistic Group”, “The Most Creative Group” and others. Therefore, not a single team that presented its creative performance remained without a prize!

A student of the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications Yaro Abubakar shared his impressions.

“The New Year's party was very interesting, and I didn’t want it to end. With our group, we danced and sang in French, Chinese, Arabic, and Russian to present all the languages of our group. This allowed us to get acquainted with each of the cultures even more. I was very happy!”

The organizers of the contest handed over the certificates of appreciation to all the participants of the event.
