SUSU Representatives Took Part in ASRTU Symposium in China

The ASRTU Symposium, in which administrative staff of SUSU participated, took place at South China University of Technology.

The Sino-Russian Symposium of the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (ASRTU) on Advanced Materials and Processing Technology took place at South China University of Technology in the city of Guangzhou in order to strengthen connections between scientists from Russian and China as well as develop scientific and technological innovations. The Symposium provided an opportunity for scientists, researchers and engineers from Russia and China to discuss the latest achievements in the sphere of advanced materials and technologies.

USU’s delegation represented by Dean of the Faculty of Materials Science and Metallurgy Engineering, Mikhail Ivanov, together with Deputy Dean Yuriy Kapelyushin and postgraduate student of the Department of Welding Engineering Ivan Ilyin presented 1 poster presentation and 2 oral reports at the Symposium. One of the reports entitled “Application of soft welding seams in ship-hull structures made of high-strength steel in order to reduce the risk of formation of cold cracks” excited a big interest among representatives of the scientific community.

“We were invited to read a lecture for students of their University in January. I think, this will be the beginning of our solid cooperation. They, in turn, got interested in SUSU’s summer schools, particularly in the programme of Russian as a Foreign Language,” says Dean of the Faculty of Materials Science and Metallurgy Engineering, Mikhail Ivanov.

South China University of Technology and South Ural State University are planning to sign an agreement on cooperation.

The next Symposium is to be held in 2020 at Kazan National Research Technical University named after A.N. Tupolev.

As a reminder, ASRTU has been established on the basis of Bauman Moscow State Technical University and Harbin Institute of Technology with the following creation of directorates in these universities. Members of the Association are 30 universities - 15 universities from each party – representatives of which had signed a declaration on establishment of the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities.
