SUSU Anniversary: Eurasia in the Ancient Times Presentation of the Studies by SUSU Archaeologists and Foreign Scientists to Be Held at the University

On December 13th at 11:30 the Eurasia in the Ancient Times presentation of the studies by SUSU archaeologists and foreign scientists, on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of our university, will be held at Pushkin Hall (Room 244 of the Main University Building). The presentation is organized by the Eurasian Studies Research and Education Centre of the Faculty of History of the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The results of joint projects of the SUSU archaeologists and their colleagues from Hungary, Kazakhstan, Germany, Sweden, and the USA will be demonstrated at the presentation.

The joint Russian-Hungarian project on the History of Pre-Hungarians (Magyars) in the Steppe Regions of the Urals and Kazakhstan (SUSU, Institute of History and Archaeology of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and Pázmány Péter Catholic University (Hungary)) will be presented by Doctor of Sciences (History) S.G. Botalov.

Doctor of Sciences (History) A.V. Epimakhov will present several international projects at once, those related to studying of the Bronze Age in the steppe region of Eurasia. These projects include: Multidisciplinary Studies of the Bronze Age Monuments in the Valley of Karagayly-Ayat River, performed jointly by SUSU, Institute of History and Archaeology of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Goethe University (Germany); project on Synchronisation of Archaeological Cultures and Processes across the Eurasian Steppes, Eastern and Western Europe by SUSU, Institute of History and Archaeology of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Freie Universität Berlin (Free University of Berlin) (Germany); project on Paleogenetic Studies of Ancient Monuments in the Steppe Region of Europe, being worked on by scientists from SUSU, Institute of History and Archaeology of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and University of Gothenburg (Sweden); joint project on Chariot Complexes of the Bronze Age by SUSU, Institute of History and Archaeology of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and University of Pittsburgh (USA).

The results and prospects of joint projects on Ancient Gold of Kazakhstan; Early Nomads of the Zhaiyk-Irtysh Interfluve; Culture of the Population of the Steppe Cisurals in the Early Iron Age and Middle Ages by SUSU, Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Margulan (Kazakhstan), Kazakh Research Institute of Culture, K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional State University will be presented by Doctor of Sciences (History) A.D. Tairov.

SUSU Students and guests will be able to learn about the results of the joint projects, to take a look at the most impressive moments of the archaeological field studies, and will be updated on the most promising trends for further international collaboration.

The exhibition within the frameworks of the presentation will feature individual and multiple-author monographs, articles from the leading foreign scientific publications on joint research by the SUSU archaeologists and their foreign colleagues.
