Summer School for Enrollees from China Starts Working at SUSU

68 Chinese students who completed their second year of education at the Huanghe Professional Hydroengineering University have arrived at the SUSU Institute of Architecture and Construction. During two months, the students will be studying subjects of their field and improving their knowledge of the Russian language.

Each summer, a large number of students from abroad come to South Ural State University to study subjects in their field. This year, the students from China have the chance to become students of the SUSU Institute of Architecture and Construction.

“The enrollees from China have come to our summer school as part of an agreement between SUSU and the Huanghe Professional Hydroengineering University. These are the first students to study under this program. They will study in our summer school for 2 months and strengthen their knowledge of their field. Closer to the end of August, the international students will complete tests in Russian, the results of which will determine the number of people admitted to the third year of study in the Institute of Architecture and Construction,” says Head of the Department of International Student Affairs at SUSU, Yekaterina Yurovskaya.

Since all of the international students will be living in SUSU, Director of the student campus Lyudmila Zadorina reminded the students of the rules of behavior in the dormitories at an introductory meeting in a creative way.

“66 students from the Peoples’ Republic of China have come to us and they will all live in the dormitories. When they were given rooms, they were introduced to the rules of fire safety and internal regulations. I made a little show to remind them of these rules. We need for students to remember that they must keep their space clean, not drink or smoke in the dorm, maintain a quiet atmosphere, and respect each other. We want the students not leave the dormitory after 23:00 while they are getting used to Chelyabinsk. When they adapt to the city, they can even go to clubs, only not alone, but with a group.”

Many students from China know Russian quite well. They speak about their feelings after arriving in Russia.

“I like Russian history and culture, I always dreamed of studying in this country. I will absolutely follow the rules that they repeated to us today,” says student of the Institute of Architecture and Construction from China, Apalis.

“I really like SUSU and I’m happy that I came here to study. The information that was given to us today was very helpful to me and I do not plan on breaking the rules,” says student of the Institute of Architecture and Construction from China, Zoya.

Within the program, the students from China will complete their 3rd and 4th years of study at South Ural State University and earn double degrees – one from SUSU, and one from their own university in China.
