SUSU Staff Took Part in the Master’s Programs: Global in the Local Conference

As part of the grant by Vladimir Potanin Foundation, the Department of Accounting of the SUSU School of Economics and Management took part in the Master’s Programs: Global in the Local conference, which was held in Kazan on April 16th and 17th. The Head of the Department Irina Prosvirina and her colleagues participated in the discussion on the prospects of development of Master’s programs in Russia.

More than 100 people from all across Russia gathered for the conference. The organizers held most interesting discussions, interactive events, and business games. The group of like-minded people developed a number of approaches which will determine the future characteristics of Master’s programs.

Among the innovations which have already been implemented we can name the network Master’s programs, which bring together the unique resources of various universities, and corporate programs.

The latter ones mean that the participants of the academic process include not just universities, but employers as well. In this case specialists of the employer companies offer lectures on professional and specialized disciplines, as well as financial help for students in the form of grants and employer-sponsored education.

In the near future, these new implementations will come to Chelyabinsk, because the region is suffering from a lack of qualified workers in various fields, including economics. The majority of businesses have already acknowledged this problem and are ready for cooperation.

The grant money of Vladimir Potanin Foundation will be used by the Department to develop a new Master’s course on Accounting, Internal Control, and Taxation.
