SUSU Researchers Win Regional Round of the “Open Innovations” Startup Tour

Researchers from the SUSU Institute of Sport, Tourism, and Service Aleksey Smirnov and Vladimir Kodkin jointly with ROSAVA company won the regional round of the “Open Innovations” Startup Tour in Perm.

118 projects participated in the selection stage, from which the contest’s committee chose 32 regional projects for the in-person round. The researchers of ISTS presented their project of a medical mattress with built-in ECG (electrocardiogram) monitoring.

The mattress makes it possible to perform daily ECG monitoring for both adults and newborns, including prematurely-born babies, without applying electrodes – and the data can be transferred over the internet. In the future, the use of this technology will allow doctors to control the condition of patients in distant regions, small towns, and those just being at home.

Now, the researchers will fight for the prize at the largest startup conference in Russia and the CIS countries for technological businesses, “Startup Village” to be held at the Skolkovo Innovation Center in Moscow on May 31st.
