SUSU Invites to Participate in the “Music of Translation” Contest

 

The Department of International Relations and Foreign Regional Studies of the SUSU  Institute of Linguistics and International Communications  invites to participate in the “Music of Translation” contest.

The goal of this contest is to improve students’ knowledge, abilities and skills, enhance the quality of training of specialists, increase students’ interest to educational activity and their future profession, form and develop translating competence. Participants of the contest can be individuals older than 16 studying English language non-professionally or students of linguistic areas.

This year, participants will have the unique opportunity to get immersed into the world of science and religion, history and architecture, art and breathtaking adventures.

On September 26 of 2017, another novel by Dan Brown about adventures of Professor Robert Langdoncalled “ORIGIN” got released in Great Britain and the USA. Taking part in literary translation of this novel will allow participants of the contest to test and assess their translator skills by answering two major questions of the “ORIGIN” novel: where did we come from? Where are we going?

Translations are accepted via e-mail studiumjuvenis[at]mail[dot]ru from October 30 of 2017 till December 4 of 2017 with an attached letter in which it is necessary to write down the participant’s full name, city, university, faculty, year of study, major (specialization), and contact e-mail under subject “translation contest”.
