Director of РА QS for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Holds Lecture at SUSU

A lecture series was held at SUSU, entitled “Subject-based QS ratings: the main stumbling blocks and ways to advance.”

In this seminar, the director of the QS ratings agency for eastern Europe and central Asia, Zoya Zaytseva, noted that our university has the potential to enter the global ratings and improve its position in subject-based ratings.

In her lecture, Zoya paid special attention to the importance of maintaining contact with graduates.

“Today, a university’s graduate is an inseparable part of the university’s capitalization – he can bring huge benefits to the university both as an individual and as a representative as his company or a representative of his industry, or a representative of the expert society that influences the results of the ratings.”

In addition, Zoya Zaytseva noted the main changes in the criteria for calculating university ratings. Among them – transformation of the system to evaluate the work of a university’s graduate. Now, evaluations of both Russian and international employers will have equal power. Earlier, the weight of international companies was 70 percent, and Russian – 30.

“At this time, the university is close to the field of view of the overall QS rating – we are in the 150 best universities by the QS BRICS rating and a number of other international ratings. In addition, efforts have been concentrated for the future development of the areas of metallurgy and computer science. This is the next step for international scientific recognition, which we plan to execute over the next three years,” commented Andrey Keller, vice rector of strategic development.

Position in international ratings is considered one of the key indicators for successfully executing the 5-100 Russian academic excellence project.
