A Field Seminar was Held for SUSU Project Leaders

A field training seminar was held at the SUSU “Science” camp as part of Project 5-100 in which university staff presented their projects to rector Aleksandr Shestakov.

“In essence we are transforming the university management system; we are applying a more project-based method, bringing in a large number of staff from various university divisions to solve Project 5-100 issues; we look carefully at the project proposals from the staff. I believe that such a strategic cooperation will bring the university success,” noted Aleksandr Shestakov.

More than 50 young, ambitious specialists of the university participated in the seminar, ready to relay new knowledge and make new discoveries. They defended new projects developed within the following strategic initiatives: programs and intellectual products of the university supporting international competitiveness; ensuring the innovative leadership of SUSU in the development of the Chelyabinsk region; increasing the university’s reputation among applicants and in academic circles; attracting young students and post-graduates, and more. Along with this, one of the main focuses of the training was to uncover common ideas and form integrated project portfolios. For this, participants were divided into 5 teams, each of which prepared a large, joint project aimed at transforming the university and the educational process as well as uncovering innovative ideas in the area of education and science.

Working with staff in this format and holding these kinds of seminars is one of the most important steps in the path towards improving SUSU before 2020 within Project 5-100. According to the vice rector of strategic development, Andrey Keller, the university, as a result of such changes, should become not just a research university but an entrepreneurial university, as well. It should turn into a modern center for high technology which will support the realization of scientific projects on the international level.
