From the Robot Vanya to “Tornado”: Foreign Applicants Visited SUSU Laboratories

The excursion for students of the Institute of International Education of SUSU, who study Russian and attend preparatory courses, was held on February 18 in the framework of the Forum “Science of SUSU”.

On the whole, about 60 applicants and students from China, Iraq, Iran and other states, which universities cooperate with SUSU in the framework of the academic mobility programs, took part in the excursions.

Foreign students and applicants attended the research centers “Mechanical Engineering”, “Experimental Mechanics”, Supercomputer Simulation Laboratory, Pushkin Institute and the Museum of Visual Physics.

At the Museum of Visual Physics foreign guests not only observed experiments, but also participated in those scientific procedures. In the Pushkin Institute they were involved in the interactive dialogue with the android robot Vanya, which told about the Project 5-100 in Russian and English.

Foreign students took great interest in the Supercomputer Simulation Laboratory, where they could learn about the role of the supercomputer Tornado in solution of scientific and engineering problems and advancement of research studies of the University.
