The Day of Uzbekistan in the Urals timed to celebration of the 575th anniversary of a poet, philosopher and state leader Ali-Shir Nava’i’s birth was organized in Chelyabinsk at SUSU on February 18.
The Fund “Eurasian Commonwealth” and SUSU (NRU) were the main initiators of this campaign designed to strengthening of friendship and economic, historical and cultural and educational cooperation between the Urals and the Republic of Uzbekistan. The event was organized with the support of the Government of the Chelyabinsk region, the Administration of Chelyabinsk and the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
In the course of I International Scientific Conference “Prospects for the Development of Cooperation of Russia and Uzbekistan: Economics, Politics, Society” the assistant of the Governor of the Chelyabinsk region, head of the Counseling Office of the President of the Russian Federation Fedor Kirsanov, head of the Directorate for Interaction with Public Associations of the Administration of Chelyabinsk Natalia Surkova, and the first Vice-President of the South Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry Igor Aristov welcomed all participants.
The Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Novosibirsk) Raushanbek Matchanov noted the significance of such international conferences, which help against the background of a complex international economic and political situation to preserve formed in the Soviet Union intercultural and economic ties. The head of the Department of History of Uzbek Literature of Samarkand State University named after Alisher Navoi Dilorom Solokhniy called upon for collaboration at the academic level, organization of joint dissertation councils, and student and academic staff mobility.
The Conference was focused on prospects for development of cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan in the framework of the import substitution program, a specific character of logistic cooperation within the project of a New Silk Road, the analysis of migration processes and other topical issues on collaboration of the Russian Federation and the Republic Uzbekistan.
Following the end of the official part all participants could taste traditional Uzbek cuisine.
Reports of a wide historical and cultural range: from the historical stratum (“The State of Uzbeks and Medieval Nomads of the Southern Urals”) to issues on current cooperation of Russia and Uzbekistan were presented in the course of International Historical and Cultural Readings “Ali-Shir Nava’i: Unfading Star of the Central Asia”. Special attention was paid to Ali-Shir Nava’i as a representative of the Eastern Revival. His influence on the history, philosophy and literature of the Central Asia was considered.
