“Onwards and Upwards!”: SUSU Student Wins the Bronze Medal in a Sprint Race at the Russian Cup Competition

At the city of Chusovoy (the Perm Territory), the third round of the Russian Cup in ski race wrapped up. On day two of the competition, in the finals of the freestyle sprint race, a native of the city of Zlatoust and SUSU student Danila Karpasiuk won the bronze medal having lost one second and a half to the gold winner – leader of the Russian team, Sergey Ardashev. Sergey Volkov came in second.

Danila Karpasiuk attacked from the fifth/sixth place, “clearing up” the free path for himself, and in the final straight he run full steam ahead. He beat his opponents in a split-second window and won the bronze medal.

For the second time in a row, Danila Karpasiuk has become the sprint race finalist in the Russian Cup competitions. And this is his first medal at such a prestigious tournament. Danila has shown that he has successfully mastered both classical technique and freestyle.

The fourth round of the Russian Cup in ski race will be held in the city of Izhevsk, December 20th-21st.
