Start to Successful Future: SUSU Revealed All Secrets to Admission and Choosing Dream Career to Applicants

South Ural State University welcomed applicants and their parents at a new open event.

We are developing and striving to keep up with the times, and so for the first time, the traditional Open House Day was held in a new format, an open session. SUSU's vice-rectors and heads of departments discussed innovations of the 2026 admissions campaign, new educational programme formats, opportunities for additional specializations, extracurricular opportunities, and career paths with real employment prospects.

The meeting was opened by Kristina Bogomozova, Deputy Vice-Rector for Education (Occupational Guidance) at SUSU:

"We are glad to welcome you to our university. This is our first career guidance session with you. Career guidance leaves a significant mark on an applicant's life, and if done correctly, the application process will be comfortable and engaging! After today's event, reassess the areas you are interested in, consider your exams, and be sure to attend other SUSU career guidance events to determine your priority specialization!"

Marina Potapova, Vice-Rector for Education at SUSU, spoke about educational opportunities, project-based learning, and interactions with industrial partners.

"The most important thing you need to understand today when choosing a field of study is the key principles we offer applicants," Marina Potapova emphasized. "You come to university to be happy in your profession. Therefore, by the end of your studies, you should develop the skills and abilities you will need in your professional life."

Anastasiia Lapo, Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Social Affairs at SUSU, presented the full range of extracurricular opportunities available to students. She noted that studying at South Ural State University allows students to develop not only in scientific and professional fields, but also in creative fields.

"You are entering a new era. SUSU is not just a place where you develop your professional skills. It is also a place where you spend a lot of time, create memories, and find a new home," said Anastasiia Lapo. "Our goal is to create an ecosystem where your potential, interests, and talents will flourish!"

Ivan Sukhikh, Head of the SUSU Occupational Guidance and Admissions Organization Office, discussed the new features of the 2026 admissions campaign, including application methods, exam selection, and changes to the minimum admission scores.

"You’ve made the right move by coming today to learn about the university and the legislative changes first-hand. One of the important innovations is the reduction in the number of application submission methods. Now, there are only three options: in-person at the university, via the State Services (Gosuslugi) portal, and by mail," Ivan Sukhikh noted. "Another change this year is the introduction of the so-called "day of silence": on this day, you are prohibited from submitting any applications."

Live communication with university representatives provided an opportunity to learn the most important information about admission.

SUSU Career Centre Director Kseniia Iakunina addressed applicants:

"I want to talk to you not only about admission, but also about what awaits you afterward—about your future, about the trajectory that will lead you to the career of your dreams."

During the open session, Kseniia Iakunina discussed how the centre's staff helps build connections between students, alumni, and leading employers, as well as how to create a digital career track in the form of a portfolio in each student's personal account.

Following the open session, guests had a unique opportunity to personally meet with the directors of the South Ural State University schools and institutes.

The new Open House Day format allowed the future students to learn about all of the university's programmes at a large exhibition space. Applicants received insider information about each programme from faculty, and students shared real-life stories about finding their niche in the big world of university and the world of professions.

In addition, guests participated in an entertainment program where everyone had a chance to win valuable prizes and branded university merchandise.

If you were unable to attend the Open House Day, you can watch the live streaming of the event.
