Chinese and Russian Students Participated in a Contest by the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications

In the year of 2025, the 80th Anniversary of the Great Victory has become the main topic of various events around the world. On this occasion, the anniversary-related festivities and big-scale events are held in all countries.

Students from China (Heihe University, Shandong University, Shenyang Institute of Technology, Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics) and Russia (South Ural State University) actively participated in the “China – Russia: United by the Victory” International Contest, organized by the Research, Education and Coordination Centre of Open Education in the Russian Language named after A.S. Pushkin of the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications. The contest was timed to coincide with the visit of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to the People's Republic of China for the participation in ceremonious events on the occasion of celebrating the Victory over Militaristic Japan.

The contest aimed at developing the patriotic attitude, forming the feeling of gratitude to the participants and victims of World War II, and boosting the interest to the historical legacy of our two countries.

The works by the contest participants presented under several categories demonstrated their deep patriotic feelings, gratefulness and respect of the heroic deeds by the senior generation.

Contest prize-winners:

“Memory of Places Unites Hearts” category (about landmarks and places related to the events of World War II):

1st place: Quan Yinying with “History Museum named after Ma Ranshang”

2nd place: Meng Fan with “Heiteshan, Black Iron Mountain”

“Victory History in Verse” category:

1st place: Li Zhijian with Wait for Me by K. Simonov

2nd place: Zhou Weiran with Wait for Me by K. Simonov

3rd place: Hu Xinyi with In the Forest near Mozhaisk by Yu. Lednev

“Writing the Victory History” category:

1st place: Mengcheng Yuan with “Victory Ties between China and Russia”

2nd place: Li Meiyu with “Eighty Years of Glory”

3rd place: Liang Chunan 梁淳安 with “For the Memory Not to Be Forgotten 为了不能忘却的纪念”

The “China – Russia: United by the Victory” International Contest became yet another milestone in the development of the collaboration between our partner universities. It demonstrated that the historical merits of the senior generation of Russia and China inspire young people to move forward and develop the cultural heritage to the benefit of our two great peoples!
