Head of SUSU Department Took Part in International Arctic Forum in India

Maksim Gutenev, who is the Head of the Department of International Relations, Political Science and Regional Studies of the SUSU Institute of Linguistics and International Communications, took part in the Arctic Circle India Forum held in New Delhi May 3rd through May 4th, 2025.

The forum became a key international platform for discussing the future of the Arctic and brought together leading experts, diplomats and scientists from the countries of the Arctic region and Asia. Among of the honorary guests of the event was the Minister of External Affairs of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, what emphasized the high level and significance of the forum for the Indian foreign policy.

Maksim Gutenev spoke at sections devoted to the role of non-Arctic states in Arctic governance, scientific diplomacy and sustainable development of the region. As part of the forum working meetings were held with representatives of the delegations of India and the United Arab Emirates, including participants of the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research of India and the Emirates Polar Program.

Participation of the SUSU scientist in such a significant international event helps to strengthen the academic image of our university, expands scientific ties within BRICS and opens up new opportunities for the implementation of joint educational and research projects in the field of Arctic research.
