Frosty, snowy morning did not prevent active students from all faculties of South Ural State University to take part in the flash mob dedicated to 5-100 Project.
More than a hundred of students lined up in the shape of 5-100 logo on the main square in front of SUSU. Thus, the action participants emphasized the importance for our University to join this project and expressed support for the University.
On December 5, 2015 ‘Science’ recreation center of SUSU held the strategic session on building breakthrough and competitive areas of research of the University within the framework of the 5-100 Project.
From the 10thto 13th of December, 2015 National Forum for Young Leaders in International Education COMMUNITY was taking place in the city of Tyumen. The Forum was organized by Tyumen State University with support from the Ministry of Education of Russia, Rossotrudnichestvo and the Government of the Tyumen region in the framework of the realization of the Program for Development of the Student Union Activities.
The international board on the project “Joint Programs and Framework for Doctoral Education in Software Engineering”, or PWs PhD, implemented in the framework of the international program Erasmus+, held the first meeting on December 8-9, 2015 in Aalborg University. The project executive manager, dean of the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Informatics Gleb Radchenko and the head of the International Programs and Funds Department of the International Cooperation Directorate Yulia Balakina attended the meeting of behalf of South Ural State University.
Postgraduate student of the Faculty of Power Engineering of SUSU Yevgeny Sirotkin is developing the world’s newest control system of wind turbines which will help to minimize the risk of accidents during the operation of wind turbines, as well as to significantly increase its energy efficiency.
South Ural State University is included in the list of top ten classical universities of Russia. The rating of Russian universities relevance is made up within the project “Social Navigator” by the international media group “Russia Today”
463 state, official, municipal and private universities from 80 regions are included in the rating. All these institutions were divided into six groups: classical, engineering, agricultural, management, humanitarian and medical universities.
SUSU delegation has visited the III annual national exhibition ‘VUZPROMEKSPO – 2015’ which was held at the beginning of December, 2015 at the site of ‘Moscow’ Technopolis in the capital of Russia. Innovative inventions of research institutes, scientific and educational centers, and world-class laboratories were exhibited on the stand of SUSU.

The solemn graduation ceremony took place on December 4, 2015 at SUSU. Master diplomas of SUSU and Clark University were conferred upon the graduates of the joint master’s degree program.
A special guest of the ceremony was the U.S. Consul General in Yekaterinburg Marcus Micheli. The ceremony was also attended by the rector of SUSU A.L. Shestakov, director of the Institute of International Education L.I. Shestakova, director of the Institute of Economics, Trade and Technology I.Yu. Okolnishnikova.
Associate Professor of the Department of Civil Law and Proceedings of SUSU Tikhon Podshivalov took part in the international scientific and practical conference ‘Private International Law in the Globalized World’ (Moscow). He presented a report on the topic ‘Evasion of Law in Civil Relations Complicated by a Foreign Element’.
The senior research associate of the Research and Educational Center for Eurasian Studies of SUSU A.V. Epimakhov gave an open lecture in one of the highly authoritative universities of Western Europe the Free University of Berlin (Freie Universitat) on November 23, 2015. This event was a part of the program within the research project financed by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The professor of the Institute of Prehistoric Archeology Elke Kaiser took the lead in this event.
On December 10, 2015 SUSU MBA Center held a master class on Quick Response Management (QRM), a tool which gives your business necessary acceleration.
The objective of the master class was to show direct relation of the acceleration of production and office processes to reducing costs, increase of quality, and the formation of a sustainable competitive advantage.

On the 26th of November “Dialog of Russia and Arab East in the context of current geopolitical situation” International round table was held for the first time in Southern Urals region.
On 18-20th of November 2015 Scientific Symposium of scientists and experts of Russia and ASEAN was held in Naypyidaw, the capital of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is political, economic and cultural regional intergovernmental organization of countries which are located in Southeastern Asia. One of the main aims of the organization is acceleration of economic, social and cultural development of its state-members on the basis of cooperation and mutual help.
Young scientists of Physics and Metallurgy Faculty have become the winners of “U.M.N.I.K.” competition in the field of “Up-to-date materials and technologies of their production”.
The Assistant of the Department “Metallurgy and Molded Production” Semen Salikhov presented a project called “The development of through energy- and resource-conserving technology of direct processing of lumpy siderite ore into steel” (scientific supervisor – Professor Vasilii Roshchin)
The delegation of South Ural State University (Chelyabinsk) will take part in the third annual national exhibition VUZPROMEKSPO-2015 held on December 2-4, 2015 at the “Moscow” venue of Tekhnopolis.
The first year PhD student of Mechanical and Technological Faculty Anastasia Gorodkova has become one of the winners of U.M.N.I.K. contest in the section “New devices and hardware complexes”.
She has come forward with the project “Development of energy efficient technology of micro electrical and mechanical systems production” (research instructor – Doctor of Engineering Sciences, Professor of the Department of “Technology of engineering” Aleksandr Diakonov).
The XVII Annual International Business Plan Competition, organized by the Business Centre of the Institute “Graduate School of Management” Saint Petersburg University, was held on November 20, 2015.
The First International Round Table “Dialog of Russia and the Arab East in the context of current geopolitical situation” with the participation of Embassy Cultural Affairs Adviser of Arab Republic of Egypt will be held on the 26th of November.
In the agenda there are following issues to be discussed:
Russia and the Near East: history, contemporaneity, perspectives of cooperation.
The role of educational institutions in the formation of public conscience of Russian and Arabic youth.
Students of the Faculty of History Tatiana Petrova (group I-206), Amir Biesov (group I-106), Vladislav Frolov (group I-301), Daniil Chernysh (group I-106), Ildar Saudabaev (I-301) have won silver and bronze medals at the final stage of Open International Internet-Olympiad (OIIO). Before winning the final stage the students have won through two rounds.
It is worth noting that it is already the fifth successful performance of the Faculty of History of SUSU in the OIIO Olympiad.
On the 24th of November, on the threshold of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Scientific-Methodological Supply and Physical Education and Sportsmanship System Maintenance in the context of Ready for Labor and Defense (GTO) incorporation” the meeting with foreign scientist Eliyahu Dremencov (the Institutes of Molecular Physiology and Genetics and Experimental Endocrinology, Slovak Academy of Sciences) has been held.
The best students of South Ural State University were awarded Ya.P. Osadchiy Fund scholarships at the Chelyabinsk Pipe-Rolling Plant on November 23, 2015. The solemn ceremony with the participation of lecturers and students of SUSU traditionally took place at the production site “Vysota 239”.
The ChTPZ rewards the most talented students with Ya.P. Osadchiy Fund scholarships for the 15th time this year.
Regional scientific and technological conference “Youth. Science. Innovation – 2015” came to a close November 18-20 at South Ural State University.
Participants in the conference came from Russian universities SUSU, SUSMU, SUSAU, CGU, MSTU, MEFI, USAU, and more, as well as commercial organizations. This program was accredited within the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises’ “UMNIK” program . (www.fasie.ru).
27th November 2015 as a part of International Scientific conference “Research and methodological support, system management and sport instruction in the contest of implementation up and running” will be held a seminar “Preparation of applications to participate in international grants programs”.
The seminar will be given by professor of Slovak academy of Sciences (Bratislava) who is an expert in European funds financing international grant programs.
The director of the seminar is professor of Sport, Tourism and Service Institute Olga Ceilikman.
