Alumnus Mohammed Al Kadim: “SUSU Has a Good Reputation in Iraq”

In October of 2019, South Ural State University signed an agreement with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Republic of Iraq. A memorandum on mutual understanding which assumes an extension of cooperation in the spheres of higher education as well as in research, scientific-and-technical and innovative activities of Russia and Iraq has been signed. A considerable role in this belongs to the fact that the university alumni – Iraqi – actively recommend the university to soon-to-be students of their country.

Presentation on the “SMS Data Challenge” International Data Analysis Contest Was Held at SUSU

On October 8th, representatives of SMS Group, Germany, held a presentation of the “SMS Data Challenge” international data analysis contest at South Ural State University.

Among the participants were fourth-year Bachelor’s students and first- and second-year Master’s students of the SUSU School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science and the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

Head of the Data Mining and Virtualization Department of the Laboratory of Supercomputer Simulation Mikhail Tsymbler greeted the participants of the presentation.

New Expert of the International Scientific Council, Andrew Cundy, Gives Assessment of the SUSU’s Ecological Projects

Doctor Andrew Cundy, Professor of University of Southampton, National Oceanography Centre, United Kingdom, has paid a visit to South Ural State University. Professor Cundy, who has become a member of the SUSU International Scientific Council in 2019, had an in-person meeting with the Council Board members and scientists of one of the major universities in Russia.

SUSU Students among the Best Conductors of Our Region

The closing ceremony of the third working semester of the consolidated Student Conductors Team “Magistral” was held at Park City hotel. The results were summed up and distinguished student conductors were awarded letters of acknowledgement and certificates. Each service member was awarded a recognition letter from the Head of the Ural Branch of АО “FPK” for providing high-level services.

Forum on Life Safety Held at SUSU

On the 3rd and the 4th of October, VII International Science-to-Practice Conference on Life Safety in the Third Millennium took place at South Ural State University. The event was held on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Department of Life Safety.

The Conference on Life Safety in the Third Millennium is held once per three years. Every year, participants of the Conference discuss such issues as occupational safety and safety in the agro-industrial complex. Other topics of discussion included overall environmental safety, habitat and human health.

Experts Tell SUSU Students about What “Knowledge of Politics” Is, and How to Apply it in Practice

A round table on “Knowledge of Politics: How to Obtain it, and Where Can it Be Applied?” was held at South Ural State University. The event was organized by the Department of International Relations, Politology and Regional Studies of the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications, and the Council of Young Political Scientists of the Russian Political Science Association.

SUSU Students among the Best at an International Olympiad in Mathematics in Israel

The Super Final of the Open International Internet-Olympiad in mathematics was held in the Ariel University in Israel. SUSU team of students defended the honour of the university and added new victories to the university's collection.

Dmitriy Gordievskih (ЕТ-122) was awarded a gold medal in an individual Olympiad. This happened for the first time since 2011 when SUSU started to participate in the super finals of this prestigious intellectual competition.

Associate Professor of ILIC Took Part in Publishing “La classe inverse” Teacher Manual

Associate Professor at the Department of Linguistics and Translation of the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications, Marina Chernysheva, took part in preparing a teacher manual entitled “La classe inverse”, elaborated under supervision of PhD Cynthia Eid (France), Vice-President of the International Federation of French Teachers (FIPF), advisor for GROUPE IGS higher education affairs (Paris).

Unique Software was Developed for Training Military Communications Specialists

A new educational software package has been developed and patented by SUSU (ECM Certificate No.2019613711) to train highly-qualified military communications specialists. There are no analogues to this software in Russia. The program is designed to train radio operators to receive messages in Morse code.

Humanities Ecoengineering: Scientists to Teach Citizens of Russia to Think Eco-friendly

A team of ecologists, journalists and philosophers of South Ural State University is working on a cross-discipline project on changing the sets and patterns of public conscience and thinking of mass consumers with regard to an ecological aspect. 

The deterioration of the state of the environment and natural resources, as well as specific ecological problems in the regions across Russia have become the very factors, which point out the necessity to search for a new way of protecting the environment and the future of the humanity.

Here the Stars Light Up: SUSU Recreation Centre Invites Freshmen to “SUSU Talent”

Selection rounds of the “SUSU Talent” student art festival will begin at South Ural State University on October 7. The festival allows freshmen to join bright extracurricular university activities and try themselves in various art genres.

“SUSU Talent” festival helps identify talented and ambitious students and enhance the creative traditions of the university. Freshmen can show themselves as capable performers and subsequently become part of the SUSU Recreation Centre teams, which are laureates of many Russian and international competitions.

Minifootball Championship among International Students Finished at SUSU

On September 28th and 29th, a minifootball championship among international students of South Ural State University took place. This year, there were competing 12 teams, 4 of which became laureates.

Biblio-Globus Has Become a Partner of the “Virtual Museum of South Ural's Writers” Project

The project created by Master’s degree students of the Department of Russian Language and Literature entitled “Virtual Museum of South Ural's Writers” keeps developing and establishing partnership relations with institutions supporting the development of contemporary humanitarian knowledge. In the new academic year, the Virtual Museum of South Ural’s Writers concluded an agreement on cooperation with the main bookstore in Chelyabinsk – the Biblio-Globus store.

Symphony Orchestra Opens the New Student Philharmonic Season at SUSU

Symphony Orchestra of Magnitogorsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will perform at the Activity Hall of South Ural State University on September 26. The Orchestra has opened the new Student Philharmonic season for the university administrative and academic staff, and students.

The Orchestra team’s concert and touring activity is eventful. It participates in the annual International Festival of Opera Art "Viva Opera", "Operetta, bravo!" All-Russian Festival, classical music festivals named after Elena Obraztsova, and the Festival "Denis Matsuev predstavlyaet".

Exhibition by Vladislav Vaganov Opens at the SUSU Art Gallery

“Secret Gift” is the title of the exhibition, which opened the season at the South Ural State University Art Gallery on September 23rd. The exhibition included more than 50 wonderful creations by an extraordinary Chelyabinsk artist Vladislav Vaganov. This is just half of the works that the artist gifted to the SUSU Art Gallery, and the fact that they got to be exhibited is a significant accomplishment by the former head of the museum Galina Trifonova, a famous Chelyabinsk art historian.

September 24-25, on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of the Department of Aircraft Engines, the 2019 All-Russian Science and Technology Conference on Dynamics of Thermophysical Processes in Engines, Power Units and Pulse Systems was held at South Ural State University.

SUSU Took Part in “All Russia” Large-Scale Forum of Contemporary Journalism

The Forum of the Union of Journalists called “All Russia – 2019”, participating in which were more than one and a half thousand media specialists from all Russian regions and 22 countries of the world, concluded in Sochi. At the Forum, SUSU was represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Journalism, Doctor of Sciences (Philology), Liudmila Shesterkina, and the Head of the Press Office at the Marketing and Strategic Communications Department, Tatiana Stroganova.

Russian scientists and Kaspersky Lab improve enterprise cybersecurity

Scientists of the South Ural State University, together with Kaspersky Lab, are launching a scientific and educational project aimed at developing an information security system for the largest metallurgical enterprise in the Chelyabinsk region. The new system will completely eliminate the human factor.

An opening ceremony of photo exhibition “Heroes of the Russian Federation. Chelyabinsk Region” was held at SUSU Military Training Centre. SUSU Students Win Basketball Tournament at the Moscow Games-2019 Festival

The V Festival of Student and Youth Sports Moscow Games-2019 concluded in Moscow. More than 2 thousand athletes from 14 countries took part in this competition and competed for medals in 14 sports. The team of South Ural State University students became victorious in men’s basketball tournament.

SUSU Represented on the World Organization of Experimental Archaeology (EXARC) Website

South Ural State University has become the only Russian university represented on the website of the World Organization of Experimental Archaeology, EXARC. The SUSU page contains information concerning the university’s experimental archaeology laboratory, which carries out international experimental research projects, studies and designs the technologies of the ancient population of the Ural Region.

SUSU Association of International Students Invites International Volunteers

The Association of International Students is looking for active and motivated international students to help those, who came to Russia for the first time, and to participate in organizing events.

AIS has been operating for 6 years now. It includes more than 2,500 students from 56 countries all over the world. The Association is actively developing and holds a large number of events and holidays for SUSU international students. Last year, 5-6 events were held every month, and in the new academic year, even more are planned.

SUSU Becomes Member of the University Alliance of the Silk Road

On September 19th, South Ural State University became member of the University Alliance of the Silk Road (UASR). Vice-Rector for International Relations Olga Yaroshenko took part in the UASR 2019 events, in the city of Xi’an of the People’s Republic of China, within the frameworks of which the membership of SUSU in this organisation was discussed.
