The Russian Museum Branch


The Pushkin Hall of the SUSU Faculty of History is a Chamber Concert Hall, a classroom for History of Art students and also as a hall for board meetings and conferences.

The opening of “The Russian Museum: Virtual Branch” education center on the basis of the Hall became a notable event. The Center is fitted with unique equipment allowing live communication with the Russian Museum and its branches .

“The Russian Museum: Virtual Branch” information and education center was opened alongside with State Russian Museum on November, 16, 2005, for professional development of Art History students in the first place. However, the new status of Pushkin hall is aimed not only at professional development of Art students but also aesthetic education of all SUSU students as well as students of other universities and school students from Chelyabinsk and the region. The collection of the Virtual Museum numbers over 500 items, including books, albums, films, CDs and DVDs, slides and software. The annual audience of the Hall numbers over five thousand people.

Virtual excursions over Russian Museum are held by laboratory chief and postgraduate students of the Department. All Culturology lecturers arrange practical Art History classes for groups of students within the Virtual Branch of Russian Museum. University and school students frequently request to visit the Virtual Branch.

Close connection with State Russian Museum enables to arrange certified internships at this worldwide renowned Russian art center. Together with SUSU diploma of Fine Arts Expert it gives the University graduates the employment opportunity at the best museums of the country.
