On February 24, in Kononovskaya village of the Archangels region, open all-Russian championship started within the Final of the Russian Cup in Skiing. On the first day of the championship athletes competed in individual 10 and 15 km race in free style.

On February 22, a ceremonious meeting on the occasion of the defender of the Fatherland Day will be held at the Activity Hall of South Ural State University.
Defender of the Fatherland Day became the annual date when students and staff of SUSU hold an event as a tribute to the memory of defenders of our fatherland.

On February 19, the First Forum of the Federation of Russian and Arab Universities started its work in Beirut (Lebanon). The Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Olga Vasilyeva, made a speech during the ceremonious opening of the Forum.

Researchers from South Ural State University Igor Klebanov and Sergey Ivanov were the first ones in the world to find symmetries which are admitted by the system of equations on self-gravitating polytropic gas. Using the method of group analysis, they are studying physical processes in the Universe.

On Sunday, February 18th, Dance Festival of Student Teams was held at SUSU. Over 200 members from 20 teams demonstrated their dancing skills.
This year the festival’s slogan was “Be a Feeling Team Member!”. The best teams from the Chelyabinsk, Tomsk and Voronezh regions performed under three categories: “Street Dance”, “Contemporary Dance” and “Folk Dance”.

Russian women's team won "bronze" the Olympic games-2018 in the ski relay 45 km. SUSU student Anna Nechayevskaya is a member of Russian team.
The gold went to the team of Norway – they were able to overcome the distance in 51 minutes, 24.3 seconds. The Russians are lagging behind the winners by 43.3 seconds. Silver medals were won skier of the national team of Sweden.
On February 17th a try-out round of the International Festival of Creativity “Together” will be held at South Ural State University.
For several years now SUSU has been organizing a big-scale creativity festival being held in the Chelyabinsk Region and attracting participants from abroad. Both children from 5 years old and adults of up to 45 years old may become the contest participants.
