Chelyabinsk Student Teams Gave a Start to Anniversary Labour Season

On May 30th, the opening of the third labour semester of student teams of the Chelyabinsk Region took place on the square in front of the monument to Kurchatov. More than 700 people took part in the ceremony. This opening is a symbolic start to the working life of students of the South Ural region.

SUSU Startup Club Summed Up the Results of the First Season

The first season of the SUSU Startup Club wrapped up on May 22nd. From January through May, the Startup Club had organized more than 20 events, such as trainings of entrepreneurial competencies, master classes by experts, consultations on filling out applications for participation in grant contests, participation in conferences and project pitches jointly with the My Business Centre and the Skolkovo IT-Park 74 Regional Operator.

Virtual Reality in Projects by Master’s Degree Students of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities

In the course of the academic year and as part of the project-based learning, Master’s degree students of the Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities study the specifics of VR journalism and create virtual media projects.

SUSU Included in the Top 20 RAEX Rating in Chemistry, Ecology and Other Categories

RAEX Rating is one of the most well-known university rankings, that takes into consideration scientific developments of a university, quality of education, as well as the level of demand for its alumni.

According to the results of 2023, SUSU took the 53rd position, being among the top 100 in the general RAEX rating.

There are also RAEX rankings by subject that determine the leadership of universities in specific areas. The results were summed up and published on the RAEX website in May. And here SUSU entered the top twenty in a number of categories.

Future Engine Constructors Visited Ural Diesel Motor Plant

Within the frameworks of the Heart of the Urals Advanced Engineering School of Engine Construction and Special-purpose Machinery students of the SUSU Department of Combustion Engines went on an introductory excursion to OOO Ural Diesel Motor Plant (Yekaterinburg) – one of the leading manufacturers of high-technology engines in Russia.

The following dissertations for the degree of Candidate of Psychological Sciences in specialty 5.3.1 "General Psychology, Personality Psychology, History of Psychology" were successfully defended at the SUSU Dissertation Council 99.2.016.02:

Give a Tree as a Gift: SUSU Took Part in an Environmental Campaign

On May 25th, the South Ural State University team took part in the "Accounting Reference System Plants an Alley" campaign with the support of the Glavbukh System company.

The event was organized by the Give a Tree as a Gift project, the goal of which is to restore forests damaged by fires and increase the number of green spaces in Russia.

SUSU Scientists Create a System for Free-flow Passage through Road Crossings

One of the key problems of road traffic organization are the vehicle holdups, even in the periods between rush hours. The constant slowdown, braking and acceleration actions result in the decrease of the crossings efficiency and the increase of tailpipe pollution. Scientists from South Ural State University have become the first in Russia to develop a mathematical model, which can give hints to drivers as to at what speed they should drive for a free flow through crossings.

The Bank of Russia Held a Class on Financial Literacy for International Students

The Department of Economics and Finance of the SUSU School of Economics and Management has been training students in the Financial Literacy for International Students supplementary educational programme for the third year now.

The programme helps students better understand how to manage their finances in a new country to avoid financial difficulties.

The Chelyabinsk Arts Centre presents the “We Have Defended the Peace — We Will Preserve the Peace”, an exhibition for all those interested in history, culture and art. This is a unique event dedicated to celebration of the Victory Day, which comprises works of art by the participants of the Great Patriotic War and by representatives of the post-war generation.

Students from groups СТ-221 and СТ-241 were hugely fascinated to attend the lecture by the leading art historian Iuliia Leonycheva, who unveiled the secrets and subtleties of the exhibited works for them.

Environmental Forum Will Be Held at SUSU

An Open Forum on Environmental Issues and the Conservation of Water Bodies will be held in Chelyabinsk. South Ural State University will act as one of the venues.

On May 24th, SUSU will host a plenary session and a science-to-practice conference, where work on 26 thematic platforms is planned. And on May 25th, all municipalities in the region will host events within the framework of international and all-Russian events − "Garden of Memory", "Water of Russia", "Green Spring", and regional campaigns ("Razdeliayka", "Battery Recycling", "All Technological Scrap – for Recycling!").

Grand opening of the exhibition of paintings and graphics "I Sing My Fatherland" took place in the Art Gallery at South Ural State University.

The "I Sing My Fatherland" exhibition is the result of plein-air seasons held in the Chelyabinsk Region over the past few years. The organization and holding of most creative events took place in collaboration with the public foundation for promoting the preservation of cultural heritage "South Ural Region". These had been outdoor plein-airs in different localities of the region.

SUSU Signed Memorandum with Leading University in Northeast China

SUSU Rector Alexander Wagner held a working meeting with Meng Shangjiu, Rector of Heilongjiang University of Science and Technology (Harbin, Heilongjiang Province). The event took place on the territory of the partner university as part of the business program of the Russia-China EXPO. The delegation from the Chelyabinsk Region works under the leadership of Governor Alexey Texler. At the meeting, the parties solemnly signed a memorandum of understanding, which will expand cooperation in the north-eastern part of China.

SUSU Scientists Summed Up Interim Results of Priority 2030 Projects

A regular meeting of the Program Committee was held at SUSU, at which 10 scientific projects applying for funding from the Priority 2030 program were considered. Managers reported on the relevance of their strategic projects, work plan for 2024, expected results and the necessary resources to achieve them.

New Educational Programmes and Research: SUSU Strengthens Cooperation with China

As part of the visit of representatives of South Ural State University to China, a working meeting on issues of cooperation with Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics was held.

SUSU and Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics (ZUA) have been partners for a long period of time. South Ural Institute, where about 1000 Chinese students study Engineering and IT specialties, was created jointly with SUSU at the premises of the Chinese university. In addition, Chinese students are increasingly choosing to study at the venue of our university under the 2+2 programme.

SUSU Interacts with Chinese Universities

The Chinese-Russian Forum of Small and Medium-sized Business Enterprises in Russia, organized by the all-Russian public organization "Opora Rossii" (“Pillar of Support for Russia”), took place in China. The event was attended by Deputy Vice-Rector for Education of South Ural State University Iliana Dovgaliuk.

During the forum, Iliana Dovgaliuk delivered a presentation on the key advantages of SUSU, shared her experience in implementing joint educational projects with other universities, and outlined the main vectors of collaboration with Chinese educational institutions.

SUSU Ecologists Have Found Elements from the Entire Rare-Earth Row of the Periodic Table in Chelyabinsk Soils

Ecologists of the SUSU Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Tatiana Krupnova, Olga Rakova and 3rd-year student Valeriia Simakhina, have presented a new method for determining the sources of urban soil pollution with rare-earth elements.

The result was published in the Chemosphere prestigious international journal, included in the first quartile of Scopus.

Delegation of Heart of the Urals Advanced Engineering School Paid Working Visit to Ural Automobile Plant

As part of strengthening ties between the leading industrial enterprises of our region and South Ural State University, a delegation of the Heart of the Urals Advanced Engineering School of Engine Building and Special Equipment, led by Director Sergei Taran, paid a working visit to Ural Automobile Plant in Miass.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss prospects for expanding cooperation in training highly qualified engineering personnel and launching joint educational programs.

SUSU Invites You to Take Part in Immortal Regiment Campaign

For 12 years in a row, the Immortal Regiment campaign has been held annually not only in Russia, but around the world as well. This year it takes place May 1st through May 12th.

In 2024, the event will again be held in an online format in Russia. The organizers have experience in holding events online. This format was used during the pandemic.

International SUSU Students Took Part in Table Tennis Championship

On May 2nd, a Table Tennis Championship was held for international students at the Sports Palace of South Ural State University.

Among the championship participants were 20 students from various countries from around the world: Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, China, Pakistan, Iran, India, Arab countries, African countries, and other countries as well.
