SUSU International Students Win 2020 Foundation Awards

The first lady of the Chelyabinsk Region Irina Texler handed out awards of the Foundation for Social, Cultural and Educational Initiatives to 50 students whose projects were named the best by a panel of experts. The winners included South Ural State University students Gulnara Khodzhieva and Dilrabo Tozhikulova.

SUSU Becomes Participant of Priority 2030, a Grand-scale Program for State Support of Universities

The list of universities participating in the Priority 2030 Program has been announced. The Commission of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education has put more than one hundred universities on this list, including South Ural State University. SUSU to Present Its Developments at the Tekhnosreda Russian Festival

On September 25th and 26th, South Ural State University will present the innovative projects of its researchers at the Tekhnosreda Festival, which will be held in Moscow and will become a key event in the Year of Science and Technology in Russia. The event will bring leading representatives of the Russian scientific community together: technology companies, universities, research institutes, and researchers and leaders in science.

SUSU Archaeologists Spoke about the 2021 Field Season

South Ural State University took part in the press conference held by the “Granada Press” Press Centre dedicated to the archaeological discoveries in the South Ural region in 2021. Andrey Epimakhov, Deputy Director for Research at the SUSU Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities, Doctor of Sciences (History), spoke about the excavations in the Varnensky District and the work on the map for diagnosing the mobility of ancient individuals.

Students from Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities Attended Lectures Dedicated to Days of Science in Chelyabinsk Region

On September 9−10, 2021, the Days of Science were held in our region. Leading representatives of the scientific community of the Ural region delivered reports and gave master classes, in which they outlined the latest trends in various branches of scientific knowledge. The grand opening of the event took place at South Ural State University, and the work of the second day ended at the venue of Chelyabinsk State University.

SUSU Passed the First Stage of Selection for Priority 2030 Program

The team of South Ural State University took part in the defence of the Priority 2030 Program. The event took place in a face-to-face format in Moscow on September 11th.

SUSU presented its development program until 2030. Within the framework of the competition, the university claims the basic part of the grant and the special part of the grant for the development of universities that provide breakthrough scientific research and the creation of science-intensive products and technologies, building its human resource capacity in the research and development sector.

SUSU Summed Up the Results of the Admissions Campaign

South Ural State University took part in a press conference at the “Argumenty i facty —Chelyabinsk” Press Centre dedicated to the results of university admissions campaign in the Chelyabinsk Region. Yulia Bolotina, SUSU Deputy Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, provided statistics and spoke about the programmes most popular among applicants.

This year, more than 10000 people applied for enrolment at South Ural State University. This number has remained stable for several years. At the same time, the number of applications grew to 38.5 thousand.

IT-START Hackathon Being Held at SUSU

The Department of Digital Economy and Information Technologies of the SUSU School of Economics and Management and the University Boiling Point invite students to take part in the IT-START Hackathon, which will be organized September 13th through September 17th, 2021. The events are timed to mark the Programmer's Day celebrated on September 13th.


The IT-START Hackathon is an event dedicated to the generation of ideas and projects for the creation of IT services in the following areas: 
• Smart City; 
• Smart Home;

Yulia Butrina: Financial Literacy Should Become a Compulsory Subject at School

In some Russian schools, financial literacy lessons are already being held. According to new federal state standards, teaching financial literacy will become compulsory starting from September of the next year.

Yulia Butrina, Candidate of Sciences (Economics), Associate Professor of the Department of Economics and Finance of the School of Economics and Management of South Ural State University spoke on why it has become obligatory and where children can be taught how to manage money.

SUSU Students Got Vaccinated Against COVID-19 on Health Day

South Ural State University held a Health Day event. A mobile vaccination hub was open on the square in front of the main university building from 11:00 to 14:00. Visitors were able to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Second-year student of the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications, Ekaterina Batraeva, got vaccinated today with the Sputnik Lite vaccine. This is a lighter version of the Sputnik V vaccine, which does not require a second dose.

COVID-19 Vaccination Site Opened at SUSU

On September 6th, a permanent COVID-19 vaccination site opened at South Ural State University.

Now students can get vaccinated during the break time between classes. All they need to bring with them are their passport, SNILS, and their insurance policy. Students will also need to fill out a patient questionnaire provided on-site by doctors during their visit. Those who have had contact with a person with confirmed COVID diagnosis within 14 days, or who are experiencing signs of a cold or flu are not allowed to be vaccinated.

SUSU Researchers Studying the Electrodynamic Properties of Materials at Low Temperatures

The electrodynamic properties of new functional materials at low temperatures in a wide frequency range are being studied at South Ural State University (SUSU). The work is being carried out within a project supported by the Russian Science Foundation (RSF).

MBA Centre Awarded Diplomas to Court-appointed Receivers

Graduates of the professional retraining programme in Crisis Management and the Activities of Court-appointed Receivers have been awarded diplomas at the MBA Centre.

The training programme for court-appointed receivers at South Ural State University has been implemented since 2000. During this time, more than 700 managers and specialists in bankruptcy and crisis management have undergone retraining.

Visitors of SUSU Museum Will Travel Back in Time

The People and Technologies of the Urals Museum and Exhibition Complex demonstrates to visitors the historical and cultural heritage of the Ural region from ancient times to the modern days. Before the start of the academic year on August 31, a new modern hall was opened in the museum and exhibition complex of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities, where digital technologies allow visitors to see ancient cave paintings and become acquainted with the history of their native land.

Yesterday’s Applicants, Today’s Students: SUSU Welcomed First-year Students

A traditional holiday dedicated to the Day of Knowledge has been held at South Ural State University.

Festive events began with a report by Rector Aleksandr Shestakov to a team of administrative and academic staff, as well as to students on the results of work in the 2020-2021 academic year and the strategic tasks of the university’s development.

SUSU Is Strengthening Its Presence in the Three University Missions International Ranking

South Ural State University retained its position in the new edition of the Three University Missions International Ranking. In 2021 it includes 1650 universities from 97 countries. Russia is represented by 112 universities.

SUSU was the only university from the Chelyabinsk Region to enter the ranking. The university took the 32–38 positions among Russian universities and the 901–1000 positions in the world ranking.

Alexey Texler Met with SUSU First-year Students

Today the Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Alexey Texler has held an open lecture for highest-scoring first-year students of South Ural State University. The lecture was devoted to the life of the region and its development.

In his opening remarks, the head of the region greeted the students and spoke about his student years:

"I remember how I first came to my university. I still remember the days of my student life with warmth: university friends, attending classes. I wish you a bright and interesting student life as well!"
