Prof Sheremetieva graduated with honors from Chelyabinsk State Pedagogical Institute in Mathematics in English. She started her post-graduate studies at Leningrad State University as a PhD and then Doctor of Philology in Applied and Mathematical Linguistics.

Prof Sheremetieva has great experience in teaching and research work, which she received while working at SUSU and abroad due to her internship at the University of Montreal (Canada). Prof Sheremetieva has worked as a leading researcher in Computational Linguistics at the University of New Mexico (USA); as a lecturer in Computational Linguistics and machine translation in Uppsala University (Sweden) and Copenhagen Business School (Denmark). These days, she holds the position of professor at the Department of Linguistics and Translation at South Ural State University.

Prof Sheremetieva initiated the establishment of the Science Education Center Lingvo-Innovative Technology at SUSU. As the Center director, she heads projects on the creation of digital resources for automatic processing and text translation.

Currently, Prof Sheremetieva teaches bachelors, master’s students and PhDs. Among her PhD students in Applied and Mathematical Linguistics were: O. I. Babina (Model of Information Extraction from Technical Texts, 2006); and P. G. Osminin (Abstracting and annotating models of scientific and technical texts focused on automatic translation, 2016)

Prof Sheremetieva has participated in many scientific conferences, given presentations and lectures on her research. She held lectures on Applied Linguistics at the University of Bilkent (Ankara, Turkey) in 2000.

In 2011, she the European Association grant for Machine Translation and organized the International Intensive School for Machine Translation with the participation of leading foreign specialists.

In 2012, she did a course of lectures on Machine Translation at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Kazakhstan).

Among Prof Sheremetieva’s latest achievements is the development of new automatic text processing models in the field of annotating, abstracting and machine translation and automation for linguistic studies. The research results are published in the proceedings of prestigious international conferences.

Prof Sheremetieva is a member of the European Association for Machine Translation and a member of Organizing Committees for many international conferences: EAMT, MT SUMMIT, and LREC.

Prof Sheremetieva has strongly contributed to the SUSU international relations while working abroad and organizing internships for SUSU students at the University of New Mexico (USA) and Copenhagen Business School (Denmark).

Prof Sheremetyeva is a leading scientist in the field of linguistic description formalization and automatic text processing systems.
