Heavy Metal Blockers for Polluted Water Bodies Presented by Russian Scientists

Scientists from South Ural State University (SUSU) presented a material that cleans water bodies from heavy metals and blocks their return to the environment. The sorbent has already been tested on water samples contaminated due to the activities of an operating enterprise. Some positive results have been achieved. The scientists described the sorption mechanism and the effect of the blocking material in an article for the highly-rated journal Nanomaterials (Q1). 

Copper-Containing Slags will be Fully Recycled within the Project of the Ural REC

 It is possible to recycle toxic copper waste. Scientists at South Ural State University (SUSU) are developing an environmentally friendly recycling approach to returning valuable metals to production as raw materials and sending the rest to the oil industry. The project is carried out within the framework of the Ural Interregional REC. 

Ural REC Develops New Composite Materials with Predesigned Properties

 

A new production of composites with adjustable geometry and characteristics is to be launched by scientists from the South Ural State University (SUSU) in cooperation with OOO M-Profil (Miass). Now a team of specialists is developing honeycomb prepreg composites. The work is carried out within the framework of the New Materials direction of the Ural Interregional REC. 

“Ecomonitor” Can Manage Environmental Risks

As part of the work of the Ural Interregional Research and Education Center "Advanced Production Technologies and Materials", large interdisciplinary projects are being implemented, the purpose of which is to improve living conditions in the region. Scientists from South Ural State University are creating the Ecomonitor software package to track the spread of pollutants in the atmospheric air. Thus, a tool for effective monitoring of atmospheric emissions will appear. 

A Control System for Electric Drives is Developed at the REC Ural

Frequency converters control the speed of the electric drive in production. However, in open-loop control schemes, the accuracy of controlling a variable such as speed may not be sufficient. Russian scientists collaborate with the Research and Development Center “Privodnaya Tekhnika” LLC propose creating special laws for controlling the frequency converter. The project is one of the main projects of the Ural Interregional Research and Education Center.

Russian Scientists Improved the Reliability of a Turbocharged Engine

The scientists have developed an independent system of turbocharger bearing lubrication and have examined operating parameters of the process of lubrication. An autonomous independent system of lubrication with a hydraulic accumulator has been designed and installed on an experimental engine, and a research stand with systems for monitoring and evaluating oil output parameters has been created.
