SUSU Scientists Found a Way to Replace Imported Steel for the Fuel and Energy Complex

Scientists from the Zlatoust Branch of South Ural State University have developed and successfully conducted tests of a technology of mass production of special steel for the fuel and energy complex. Import-substituting products, which were previously supplied only from Europe, will now be produced by Zlatoust Metallurgical Plant, says Andrey Anikeev, Deputy Director of the SUSU Zlatoust Branch.

A Hardware and Software Complex for Controlling Hydraulic Servo Drive Is Being Created at SUSU

SUSU scientists are engaged in the development and creation of the production of hydraulic servo drives with hydrostatic guideway. With the support from the Government of the Chelyabinsk Region, a team of scientists is developing modern Russian software for controlling a hydraulic servo drive using a personal computer. In October 2023, the project team submitted two applications for registration of computer programs.

Festival of the Peoples of the World Held at SUSU

The SUSU Music Club and Association of International Students organised the Festival of the Peoples of the World creativity event, which was dedicated to celebration of National Unity Day.

Festival of the Peoples of the World is an event at which representatives of different nationalities present music of their peoples. This event allows students to share their cultural heritage with others, as well as to learn traditions of other nationalities.

Jeddah universities offered the researchers from South Ural State University to jointly participate in an international grant on improvement and implementation of the system for monitoring of pollutants emissions from transport at intersections.

The AIMS Eco system, developed by South Ural State University, is not just an additional device for traffic light system. It is a complex for dynamic monitoring of pollutants emissions from vehicles based on big data aggregation using neural network methods.

Student of the IMSSH Department of Sociology Became Champion of Russia among University Students

Student of the 2nd year of studies from the Department of Sociology of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities (IMSSH) of South Ural State University Ivan Podgornyi became a champion at the National Student Kettlebell Lifting Competition. 

The competition was held November 3rd through November 6th in Saint Petersburg, where Ivan represented South Ural State University. In this challenge for the leadership among the best athletes from universities from all over our country Ivan took the 1st place. 

SUSU Students Win Medals at an Italian Championship

Chess Boxing World Championships wrapped up in Italy. Students from South Ural State University became silver medal winners in this tournament.

Students of the SUSU Institute of Law, Amina Akhmadulina and Artem Sldoyan made it to the finals, where in fair competition they yielded the first places to their opponents from Germany and France.

Solid domestic waste landfills, slag from mining and processing plants, and repositories of solid and liquid nuclear waste – all of that could be placed underground, in concrete bunkers, down to one hundred meters deep. This bold idea has been proposed by scientists from South Ural State University.

SUSU in the Leading Positions in THE World University Ranking

British edition Times Higher Education (THE) has published its university ranking, which has included 1904 universities from around the world, with South Ural State University among them.

The university activity was assessed as per five fields: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, International Outlook and Industry – the total of 17 criteria.

Our university has entered the 601-800 group, having outperformed 66 Russian universities. Last year SUSU was in the 801-1000 group.

SUSU Engineers Designed Garbage Truck Powered by Electric Motor

Specialists from the SUSU Mechanical Engineering Research Institute have designed a garbage truck capable of operating both on an internal combustion engine and on electric power. Electric motor in the transport will ensure its silent and environmentally friendly operation when working in the city. The truck will be produced at the Ural Automobile Plant.

Chelyabinsk Scientists Working on Import Substitution of Promising Multi-purpose Engine

Ural Diesel Engine Plant (UDEP) produces a promising series of DM-185 high-speed multi-purpose engines, which are installed on ships, railway locomotives and quarry vehicles. However, imported components are still used for the production of such engines, in particular pistons from a well-known German company. In 2018, the plant turned to scientists from South Ural State University for help − they needed to create an original piston from domestic materials for the manufacture of high-speed engines.

World-class Inter-university Campus in Chelyabinsk Awarded at Prestigious Prize in Moscow

A ceremony of awarding the winners of the first prize for infrastructure projects based on "Vedomosti. Impuls" public and private partnership has been held in Moscow. Our Inter-university Campus project has received an award in the special category “Investing in the Future”.

This year, 57 projects have been presented at the awards, including projects of road construction, interregional infrastructure, healthcare and public services. All of them were assessed according to several criteria: development stage, industrial specifics and general economic situation.

Representatives of almost all CIS countries have arrived in Moscow to attend the anniversary plenum of the Russian State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles. The event have participants exchanged their experiences and discussed the prospects for developing a draft agreement on the mutual recognition of academic degrees.
