An Hour with SUSU Rector: Alexander Wagner to Answer All Questions from Applicants

A meeting of applicants and their parents with the Rector of South Ural State University Alexander Wagner will be held on Sunday, July 9th.

In the course of the meeting, the Rector will speak on the strategy of the university development, main competitive advantages of SUSU, the tuition discount program, scholarships, and many other opportunities that open up for talented and ambitious applicants of South Ural State University.

Enrol to SUSU Postgraduate Studies!

South Ural State University began accepting applications for postgraduate studies on July 3. Holders of Master's and Specialist degree diplomas have a right to enrol. Students can choose from 62 scientific programmes on a state-funded and contract basis.

Deadlines for submitting documents:

– until July 14th for full-time education on a state-funded basis;

– until August 25th for full-time education on a contract basis.

Leokadia Parshina, student of the School of Economics and Management, took part in the Youth Day at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum SPIEF-2023 (International Youth Economic Forum) on June 17, 2023 at «Expoforum» Exhibition Center in St. Petersburg.

Сompetition to select the mascot of the DST started in Russia!

On 23 June, the national competition to choose the mascot of the Decade of Science and Technology (DST) was officially launched. Any resident of the country can participate. Until 31 July participants have to upload their variant of the mascot and a short story about it to the contest page талисман.наука.рф, the organisers report.

University Council Meeting Has Been Held at SUSU

In the Assembly Hall of South Ural State University a meeting of the University Council has been held in a new format. Directors of the university schools and institutes presented their reports on their work over the past academic year. Also, the university students and staff members received awards for their victories and scientific achievements.

2022–2023 Project Day Held at SUSU

On June 23rd, the Project Day conference was held in the conference hall of SUSU’s Sigma building. The best teams from nine of SUSU’s schools and institutes presented the results of projects from the past academic year and defended them before the commission. 445 students took part in the 2022–2023 project-based learning program and 64 projects were implemented.

The reporting conference included 21 presentations on topics ranging from quantum computing and deep machine learning in bioinformatics to an online English language course for scientific publishing.

It is a unique university division, which combines the best achievements by scientists in the field of fundamental medicine and biomedicine, food technology and biotechnology, as well as clinical psychology. On June 21, a closing ceremony for the Project Management Championship, Cup of the Governor was held in the conference hall of the SUSU Sigma Building. Results were announced, and participants were awarded.

The 2023 Championship for School Pupils, Cup of the Chelyabinsk Region’s Governor was organized by the Ministry of Education and Science for the Chelyabinsk Region, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Industry, New Technologies and Natural Resources, Department of Youth Policy of the Chelyabinsk Region, and South Ural State University.

SUSU Finds a Method to Fight Traffic Jams at Intersections

Researchers from SUSU are creating an intelligent system to regulate traffic flows in cities. This system will help reduce traffic idling time at intersections and automobile emissions. The research was completed as part of the Priority 2030 strategic project Ecology of Post-industrial Agglomerations. The goal of the project is to improve the environment by reducing greenhouse gases and hazardous pollutants.

A student in the SUSU Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program developed a system for monitoring and controlling smart farms, which will record data from environmental sensors and transmit it to the user's smartphone.

Share a Chance for Life: Blood Donor Day Held at SUSU

Within the frameworks of the 2023 plan of events on organizing the mass-cultural, physical-education, sports and recreational work with students, the Extracurricular Activities Office organized and held the Blood Donor Day on June 9th. This campaign was held before the main university building and in the 3rd-floor hall of the main building. In the morning of the event day, those willing to donate blood gathered near the specially-equipped mobile unit.

SUSU Scientists Develop Plant-based Products with Probiotics

Within the frameworks of a grant, supported by the Russian Science Foundation, scientists of the SUSU School of Medical Biology have begun developing plant-based probiotic food products. This will allow people who do not consume dairy products to receive the micronutrients necessary for healthy functioning of human body since the main probiotics important for the body are found in dairy products.

International Students from China Participate in Biotechnology Research Conference

The traditional 76th SUSU Student Research Conference was held at the Department of Food Technology and Biotechnology of the School of Medical Biology. This year the Food Technology and Biotechnology category was especially busy; Bachelor’s and Master’s students of the department presented their research results, including students from Zhejiang Oceanic University studying in the English-language Master’s programme in Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology (19.04.01).

School Pupils Engineered UAV Together with SUSU Students and Teachers

May 24th at SUSU, pupils of Academic Lyceum No.95 defended a project on engineering an unmanned aerial vehicle for ecological survey and presented the UAV model.

The research work and practical work with the school pupils was carried out within the All-Russian Educational Project "Sirius. Summer" aimed at searching for and implementing of research and engineering projects by pupils under guidance of their mentors. Chelyabinsk Radio Plant Polet suggested the projects' topics for the pupils of Lyceum No.95.

Traditionally, last Sunday of May, the professional holiday of workers of chemical and petrochemical industry is celebrated. It was proclaimed by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1965 (and was set to be celebrated last Sunday of May in 1980). Workers of chemical industry are exceptionally in-demand in science, industry and business. At SUSU, specialists in the field of chemistry are trained at the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
