Project Head Mikhail Ivanov, Ph.D. (Engineering), Associate Professor Department Welding Engineering Objective The objective of the work is to improve the normative and methodological base of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, as well as the participants of International Association of Classification Societies (IACS), the international community of shipbuilders, in terms of the technological processes of welding ship-body structures made of high-tensile steel, including structures operating at low temperatures Tasks Achieving the goal of the research work it is necessary to solve the following tasks: to analyse information on the identified defects of welded joints and factors associated with their formation, in order to determine the causes of their occurrence; to analyse the welding materials used for welding high-tensile shipbuilding steels, to determine materials that provide high-quality welded joints when welding high-tensile steels operating at low temperatures; to analyse the local and foreign experience of technological processes of welding the welded joints of ship-body structures made of high-tensile steel, including structures operating at low temperatures; to analyse the local and foreign regulatory documents on the nomenclature of requirements for the quality of welded joints, taking into account the use of the product at low temperatures; to analyse information on the criteria and methods for evaluating the performance of the welded joint metal at low temperatures; to analyse the requirements of IACS and foreign classification societies for welding materials and technological processes for welding high-tensile steel; to develop requirements for welding technological processes; to develop requirements for the procedure of approval of welding technological processes; to develop requirements for the procedure of non-destructive acceptance inspection of welded joints Audience 5 Master’s students of specialisation 15.04.01 Machinebuilding Customer Federal Autonomous Institution “Russian Maritime Register of Shipping”
