Heroes of the Fatherland Day, a holiday that symbolizes deeds of those who demonstrated valour, courage, and bravery in their service to our Motherland, is celebrated in Russia on December 9th. South Ural State University is proud of its students and alumni who were awarded the most honourable title of the Hero of Russia.
Albert Zainullin is a student of the State and Municipal Administration programme of the SUSU Institute of Open and Distance Education. He enrolled in the university in the summer of 2024.
An open lecture by Olga Solopova, Doctor of Sciences (Philology), Professor of the Department of Linguistics and Translation Studies of the Institute of Linguistics and International Communications was held at the Faculty of Roman and German Philology of South Ural State University (National Research University) on December 2nd. The lecture was devoted to the topic of “Russia in a Metaphorical Mirror: Traditions and Innovations” and was organised as part of scientific cooperation between South Ural State University, Kuban State University and Pyatigorsk State University.
On December 5th, the Rector of South Ural State University Alexander Wagner and CEO of AO Centre for Biometric Technologies Vladislav Povolotsky signed a cooperation agreement aimed at developing educational and scientific projects in the field of biometrics and information technology.
The document envisages joint work in a key area – training young specialists in biometric systems and information security.
Yana Zaripova, a Master’s student of the Department of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations of the SUSU Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities, has become a winner in the “Breakthrough of the Year” category of the “SHUM” national youth award in the field of media and journalism!
The girl is working at the SUSU-TV Television Company as a director, cameraperson and editing director for the “Avenue of the Young” student broadcast about talented youth. Yana also directed several short films.

Students of the SUSU Institute of Law took part in the opening ceremony for a thematic and documentary exhibit in the South Urals Museum of Law. The event was organized on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of adopting Part One of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation. The exhibition is titled “The Civil-Law Relations in Russia” and was assembled by the Centre for Legal and Business Information of the Multi-purpose Scientific Library of the Chelyabinsk Region.

The lecture was given by the SUSU Vice-Rector for Security Pavel Sonin and the representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the City of Chelyabinsk Anastasiia Kuznetsova.
At the University Council meeting, the SUSU Rector Alexander Wagner awarded participants of the Scientific Projects Contest within the Step into the Future, Viktor Khristenko's Grants Program. The total of 33 students, postgraduates and members of the teaching staff of SUSU received these awards.

The opening ceremony of the Historical Documentary Film Festival was held at South Ural State University on November 26th. As part of the event, the film “Donbass: Memory of Generations” was presented to the audience. The festival is organised by the Russian Historical Society with the support of the History of the Fatherland Foundation.

The Bulletin of Saratov State Law Academy scientific journal published a review of the Principles of Public Law monograph, written by the authors of the SUSU Institute of Law under the leadership of Elena Titova, Director of the Institute of Law, and Tikhon Podshivalov, Deputy Director for Research of the Institute of Law.

On November 26th, as part of the Historical Documentary Film Festival, films War through the Camera Lens, and At the Origins of Russian Archaeology were presented at South Ural State University.
The Historical Documentary Film Festival of the Russian Historical Society with the support of the History of the Fatherland Foundation will be held in Chelyabinsk on November 26th. Among the festival organizers is South Ural State University (National Research University), which is the major university in our region and one of the major universities in our country. Films created by prominent Russian documentary filmmakers will feature there.
The idea of the project is based on two tasks: on the one hand, to boost students' interest in participating in the accelerator events by introducing elements of gamification; and on the other hand, to simplify the accelerator participants' communication with each other, find team members and experts, and help them effectively master entrepreneurship skills within a short time.
Today there are three active participants in the team working on the project:

The Tochka.Online Media Academy is an initiative for online training for young PR specialists working in government organizations of the Russian Federation, student media centres, as well as for schoolchildren and young teachers aged 14 to 35.
Within the frameworks of a grant of the Russian Science Foundation (RSF), researchers from South Ural State University are engineering a smart system for controlling the liftoff, flight and landing of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) with high-lift devices, which could also be used for coordination of the operation of blades in wind-driven power-plants. This system is based on artificial intelligence with a self-training neural network.
