Environmental Forum Will Be Held at SUSU

An Open Forum on Environmental Issues and the Conservation of Water Bodies will be held in Chelyabinsk. South Ural State University will act as one of the venues.

On May 24th, SUSU will host a plenary session and a science-to-practice conference, where work on 26 thematic platforms is planned. And on May 25th, all municipalities in the region will host events within the framework of international and all-Russian events − "Garden of Memory", "Water of Russia", "Green Spring", and regional campaigns ("Razdeliayka", "Battery Recycling", "All Technological Scrap – for Recycling!").

Artists from Chelyabinsk Region Gathered at SUSU

Grand opening of the exhibition of paintings and graphics "I Sing My Fatherland" took place in the Art Gallery at South Ural State University.

The "I Sing My Fatherland" exhibition is the result of plein-air seasons held in the Chelyabinsk Region over the past few years. The organization and holding of most creative events took place in collaboration with the public foundation for promoting the preservation of cultural heritage "South Ural Region". These had been outdoor plein-airs in different localities of the region.

International Students from SUSU Become Winners in a Festival

For the first time, Chelyabinsk Institute of Culture has hosted an Art-dvizhenie (Art Movement) International Festival, where students from the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language and the Pre-University Division have successfully presented their performances.

A meeting between the management of Chelyabinsk Urban Electric Transport Plant (CUETP, part of the Sinara-Transport Machines Holding) and representatives of South Ural State University was held at the enterprise. The parties discussed the possibilities of introducing technologies developed by the educational institution into production.

SUSU Awarded Finalists of Ural District Hackathon

On May 17th-19th, the Ural Federal District Hackathon of the "Digital Breakthrough. Season: Artificial Intelligence" project was held in Chelyabinsk at the premises of South Ural State University, organized by the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation and the Russia Is a Land of Opportunities non-profit organization.

SUSU Signed Memorandum with Leading University in Northeast China

SUSU Rector Alexander Wagner held a working meeting with Meng Shangjiu, Rector of Heilongjiang University of Science and Technology (Harbin, Heilongjiang Province). The event took place on the territory of the partner university as part of the business program of the Russia-China EXPO. The delegation from the Chelyabinsk Region works under the leadership of Governor Alexey Texler. At the meeting, the parties solemnly signed a memorandum of understanding, which will expand cooperation in the north-eastern part of China.

SUSU Scientists Summed Up Interim Results of Priority 2030 Projects

A regular meeting of the Program Committee was held at SUSU, at which 10 scientific projects applying for funding from the Priority 2030 program were considered. Managers reported on the relevance of their strategic projects, work plan for 2024, expected results and the necessary resources to achieve them.

New Educational Programmes and Research: SUSU Strengthens Cooperation with China

As part of the visit of representatives of South Ural State University to China, a working meeting on issues of cooperation with Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics was held.

SUSU and Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics (ZUA) have been partners for a long period of time. South Ural Institute, where about 1000 Chinese students study Engineering and IT specialties, was created jointly with SUSU at the premises of the Chinese university. In addition, Chinese students are increasingly choosing to study at the venue of our university under the 2+2 programme.

SUSU Interacts with Chinese Universities

The Chinese-Russian Forum of Small and Medium-sized Business Enterprises in Russia, organized by the all-Russian public organization "Opora Rossii" (“Pillar of Support for Russia”), took place in China. The event was attended by Deputy Vice-Rector for Education of South Ural State University Iliana Dovgaliuk.

During the forum, Iliana Dovgaliuk delivered a presentation on the key advantages of SUSU, shared her experience in implementing joint educational projects with other universities, and outlined the main vectors of collaboration with Chinese educational institutions.

SUSU Ecologists Have Found Elements from the Entire Rare-Earth Row of the Periodic Table in Chelyabinsk Soils

Ecologists of the SUSU Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Tatiana Krupnova, Olga Rakova and 3rd-year student Valeriia Simakhina, have presented a new method for determining the sources of urban soil pollution with rare-earth elements.

The result was published in the Chemosphere prestigious international journal, included in the first quartile of Scopus.

Delegation of Heart of the Urals Advanced Engineering School Paid Working Visit to Ural Automobile Plant

As part of strengthening ties between the leading industrial enterprises of our region and South Ural State University, a delegation of the Heart of the Urals Advanced Engineering School of Engine Building and Special Equipment, led by Director Sergei Taran, paid a working visit to Ural Automobile Plant in Miass.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss prospects for expanding cooperation in training highly qualified engineering personnel and launching joint educational programs.

SUSU Invites You to Take Part in Immortal Regiment Campaign

For 12 years in a row, the Immortal Regiment campaign has been held annually not only in Russia, but around the world as well. This year it takes place May 1st through May 12th.

In 2024, the event will again be held in an online format in Russia. The organizers have experience in holding events online. This format was used during the pandemic.

International SUSU Students Took Part in Table Tennis Championship

On May 2nd, a Table Tennis Championship was held for international students at the Sports Palace of South Ural State University.

Among the championship participants were 20 students from various countries from around the world: Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, China, Pakistan, Iran, India, Arab countries, African countries, and other countries as well.

SUSU Scientists Developed a Method of Biopreservation of White Cheese for Long-term Storage without Using Antibiotics

Professor of the Department of Technology and Organization of Catering of the SUSU Institute of Sport, Tourism and Service Sobhi Ahmed Azab Al-Suhaymi, together with his colleagues from Egypt, the UAE and Poland, developed and substantiated a new technology of producing white cheese resistant to fungal and bacterial infections. The result was published in the famous Toxins international journal.

Winner of UMNIK Competition Creates Material that Will Become Temperature Standard

A unique temperature sensor is being developed by employees of the Non-conventional Materials and Resource-Saving Technologies Research Institute of SUSU as part of the Science and Universities national project. The device measures temperature many times more accurately than its global analogues. In addition, the sensor checks itself and operates at temperatures from 0 to 800 degrees. This range is widely used in industry: nuclear energy, metallurgy. According to preliminary estimates, the accuracy of the sensor will be 1 degree.

Institute of Law Organised International Student Contest in a Trial Format

April 25 through April 26, 2024 the SUSU Institute of Law welcomed participants of the 4th Lievschietz Moot Court International Student Contest, conducted in a model trial format.

SUSU Took Part in “EngineerBasket”

The final round of the “EngineerBasket” project, a “3x3” game format for the cup of OOO “TMK ETERNO”, took place at the Sports Palace of South Ural State University (National Research University) on April 20th.

The “EngineerBasket” career guidance project for school pupils and students of the Chelyabinsk Region, who are planning to become engineers in the future, was created by the Centre for Advanced Professional Training of the Chelyabinsk Region, jointly with OOO “TMK ETERNO” and the Chelbasket basketball club.

It was organised by Chelyabinsk State Institute of Culture.

Results of Student TEFI TV Contest at SUSU

South Ural State University acted as the general partner and platform for the 10th Anniversary of the All-Russian Student TEFI Television Contest.

The competition is organized by the Academy of Russian Television and is held with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation. Our university also provides support for its organization in Chelyabinsk.

SUSU Awarded Finalists and Winners of B.N. Khristenko Olympiad for Schoolchildren

The final round of the Fifth B.N. Khristenko Interregional Olympiad in Financial Literacy for Schoolchildren has taken place. This traditional event is held by the Department of Economics and Finance of the SUSU School of Economics and Management. A well-known economist, a specialist in development and implementation of business games in economics, Boris Khristenko introduced active methods of teaching students at Chelyabinsk Polytechnic Institute (future SUSU) and headed the first laboratory of business games in the USSR.

South Ural Association of International Students and Alumni Took Part in Off-site Event

An off-site team-building event for activists of South Ural Association of International Students and Alumni, organised by the International Office and AO SZ “Yuzhuralstroyservis”, was held at the Chebarkul recreation centre April 13th through April 14th.

SUSU international students, from such countries as Uzbekistan, China, Iran, Tajikistan, Iraq, India, Kazakhstan, Russia, Indonesia, Ethiopia, and Kyrgyzstan, took part in the event. As part of the program, they learned about local attractions, tasted Arabic coffee, played sport games, and participated in a media contest.

SUSU Mathematicians Laid Flowers at Memorial Plaque of Abram Katsman on Anniversary of His Birth

On April 22nd, on the 108th anniversary of the birth of Abram Katsman, one of the first mathematicians of the Chelyabinsk Polytechnic Institute who had worked at the university since 1943, those scientists and teachers, who know and remember him, who consider him their teacher, gathered at the memorial plaque in his memory (on the second floor of the eastern wing of the SUSU main building).

SUSU Institute of Engineering and Technology Hosted MetalQuest for Schoolchildren

On April 19th, a quest for schoolchildren in the 10th to 11th forms was held at the laboratories of the SUSU Institute of Engineering and Technology, during which children independently made memorable souvenirs from metal.
